In what bystanders likened to a Hollywood action script, members of a vigilante group known to be affiliated to the opposition National Democratic Congress, called the HAWKS stormed the party’s regional headquarters on moto bikes with guns blazing.
The Hawks opened fire at some of the party’s bigwigs, killing one instantly while others got critically injured.
This was at a time there was an ongoing meeting that had the General Secretary and National 4 Chairman present.
Sule, a member of the group threatened that this was just the beginning of more fire to come as he blamed the executives for pocketing monies meant for them after their failed operations during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections.
“When guns were fired at us, where were you? We could have died and you people would be enjoying from our sweat. You think we are fools? This is just the beginning” he thundered.
He lamented that after they were sent to Accra with no resources to face the well-resourced NPP group, they were abandoned to their fate after some of their members and leaders were rounded up and beaten by the police and the national security operatives.
Some of them had to find their own means of transportation back home, he indicated, and the likes of Asiedu Nketiah and Ofosu-Ampofo would not find out what is happening to them but were happily having meetings
