Minority to boycott State of the Nation address to be delivered tomorrow

aobrempongnana.wordpress.com has sited a statement signed by the minority chief whip, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, (MP, Asawasi) alleging that they ( the minority) will boycott the President’s visit to the Parliament tomorrow to present the State of the Nation Address.

Below is the said statement…

The Minority wishes to categorically state that we shall not be part of tomorrow’s State of the Nation’s Address by President Akufo-Addo.

This decision has been taken as a result of the failure of the Akufo-Addo Government to arrest and prosecute the state-sponsored goons who assaulted Samuel Nertey George during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram was unjustly treated by thugs associated with the ruling New Patriotic Party, and since that incident occurred, no concrete steps have been taken to bring the perpetrators to book.

We, therefore, wish to state that we are boycotting this event in solidarity with our colleague MP, Sam George. Thank you.

Muntaka Mubarak
Minority Chief Whip.
