Former President of the Republic of Ghana John Dramani Mahama has donated his one (1) month salary to a Coronavirus Fund established to deal with the deadly disease.
In a press statement signed by the special aide to the flagbearer of the opposition party NDC Joyce Bawah Mogtari, believes with togetherness, Ghana can triumph over the deadly coronavirus.
The Fund meanwhile will be managed by an independent board of trustees chaired by the immediate past Chief Justice, Sophia Akufo Addo to receive contributions and donations from the public to assist in the welfare of the needy and the vulnerable.
President Akufo-Addo on Friday night announced a lockdown in Accra and Kumasi Metropolis effective dawn of Monday, 30th March 2020 following a spike in cases of the covid-19 pandemic.
The directive will affect Accra, Kumasi, Tema, Kasoa among others.
However, essential workers have been exempted from the temporary measures announced by the President as the lockdown takes effect Monday dawn.
Ghana’s confirmed cases has scaled up to 137 with four deaths.
