The new Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Mumin Issah has pledge to continue the works initiated under his predecessor, Late Hon. Anthony K.K Sam who kicked the bucket during the fight against novel Coronavirus pandemic in the Metropolis.
The most significant works initiated under the Late Hon. Anthony K.K Sam is the redevelopment of Takoradi Central Project which includes, reconstruction of Market Circle, construction of separate ultra-modern commercial and private central car parks and as well ensure planned development in the Metropolis.
Hon. Mumin Issah was nominated by the ruling government led by H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo
and was endorsed by Assembly Members through voting and confirmed into office on 14th August 2020, by the Western Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah who double as incumbent Member of Parliament for Takoradi Constituency.
In an acceptance speech delivered by Hon. Issah assured Members of Parliament in Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis a cordial relationship and also draw on their experiences and expertise towards the execution of his mandate.
He said his predecessor, Late Hon. Anthony K.K Sam performed well to the admiration of all during his tenure until his untimely demise.
“I will like to pledge to carry on with his well-intented programmes and activities of the Assembly as well as that of the New Patriotic Patriotic Party “NPP” Government while being very consciously aware of the expectations from his leadership”, he emphasize.
According to him, his focus in office will be to address the challenges affecting the Assembly which among others is to work to actualize the NPP Government’s priority of creating jobs and opportunities for all, improvement of revenue mobilization by the Assembly for development, tackling sanitation issues, dealing with security “lighting issues” and other development matters that his attention will be drawn to.
Meanwhile as part of the drive for the improvement of sanitation, the new Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive is of a strong conviction that the Assembly will have to do more by improving the sanitary conditions in the Metropolis even though it is a shared responsibility for all.
Hon. Issah said a disturbing issue in the Metropolis is the indiscipline exhibited by commercial drivers who have turned almost every intersection and available spaces into loading terminals with impunity to the detriment of other road users and most traders especially hawkers who continue to disregard the Assembly’s bye-laws, selling on pavement, walkways and other locations not meant for trading activities.
