Incessant Rains pushes GADUO Special Awards to next Month

Many would have witnessed the glittering Special Awards night yesterday, October 10, 2020 at the Mcdan La Town Park, by the Ga-Dangme Unity Organization (GADUO), but for the continuous rainfall in Accra which would’ve marred the outdoor Award’s Beauty.

The maiden Awards which according to the organizers has been postponed to Saturday, November 28, at 6pm, has lined up several categories to honor at the event which is aimed at ‘Fostering Peace, Unity & Justice Before, During and After the 2020 General Elections’.

In an Exclusive Interview with Davis, Chairman of the Organization, Edward Coleman, added, that unfulfilled promised by sponsors is a contributing factor to the postponement of the Special Awards Night.

“First of all, the rain disturbed us and knowing it is an open event and also on astro-turf, we can’t go ahead with it as it must dry. Most of the Sponsorship we were expecting also disappointed us. We also felt that we could actually make a lot of impact with our Peace Message as next month is closer to the December 7 Elections.”

Dubbed the ‘Youth and Sports Festival & Tourism Special Awards Night’, the Card Playing Competition resumes from the 25th October through to 8th November at 8am each day from Chorkor, La, Osu, Nungua to Kpone venues.

Other activities that will precede the much-anticipated Awards include Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball. At the La Town Council Line Park, on the 15th and 16th November, Nima-Kanda 441 will play Town Council Line in a soccer Match, while Tudu Lebanon Youth squares it up with Town Council Line Youth. In Volleyball, La Pioneers will face Town Council Line Youth.

A finals in Soccer on Saturday, November 21, will be witnessed at the Mcdan La Town Park at 3pm.

The Awards Night will have in attendance, His Royal Majesty, Dr King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse (Abiasuma), Africa and World boxing legend, Prof Azumah Nelson, CEO of the biggest shipping firm, Dr Daniel Mckorley, Football greats, Stephen Appiah and Armah Senegal. Dancehall sensation, Charles Nii Armah Mensah, known as Shatta Wale, Ga Highlife Artist, Adane Best among others will be present.

It is the believe of the GADUO that this Awards Night will further strengthen their Unity motivate and improve the individual and organizational contribution to the growth and promotion of the entire Ga-Dangme Communities and Ghana as a whole.

Ga-Dangme Unity Organization Maiden Special Awards slated for October 10

The Mcdan La Town Park will be glittering, as the Ga-Dangme Unity Organization (GADUO) is set to honor deserving and supportive organizations and individuals who have supported the GADUO in diverse ways over the years at the ‘Youth and Sports Festival & Tourism Special Awards Night’ on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

The Maiden event which will begin at 6:00pm, has the theme ‘To promote Development, Foster unity and peace in the Ga-Dangme Communities’ is expected to honor individuals and organizations, ranking from Religious Leaders, Political Parties, Peace Councils, Sports & Entertainment Personalities among Others.

In a statement released by GADUO, led by Edward Coleman, the Awards is geared towards promoting Peace and Cohesion ahead of the upcoming General Elections.

“As part of the program, we would like to educate the public about the fact that we are in an election year; therefore, it is imperative to ensure, that as citizens we do things that Promote Peace before, during and after the General Election. This will ensure that in the end, the victory will be for all Ghanaians.”

There were Card playing activities in communities like La, Osu, Teshie, Nungua, kpone, Chorkor and Ga Mashie on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 & 4, that heralded the ‘Youth and Sports Festival & Tourism Special Awards Night’.

Award Categories for the Night include: Entertainment and Arts, Ga-Dangme Hi-life Artists of the year, Ga-Dangme Hiplife Artists of the year, Ga-Dangme New Artists of the Year, Ga-Dangme Most Popular Song of the year, Ga-Dangme Music Producer of the year, and Ga-Dangme Music for Development.

Others are Ga-Dangme Raggae/Dancehall Artists of the year, Ga-Dangme Best Collaboration Song, Ga-Dangme Most Influential Artists of the year, and Ga-Dangme Artists of the year.

There will be Institutional Awards which targets, Most supporting Company, & Assembly, Head of State, MP with others.

The Media (Best Ga-Dangme Sports Commentator, Entertainment, radio, Tv), Sports (Best Footballer, Tennis, Talented boxer, promising Referee & Volleyball Team), & Arts and Culture (Best painting Male/female) won’t be left out.

The Awards Night will not conclude without the Personalities Awards which will honor Stephen Appiah, Shatta Wale, Tinny, Adane Best, Emmanuel Armah Senegal, Azumah Nelson and Dr. Daniel Mckorley.

Popular Kumawood actor shot by armed robbers

Popular Kumawood actor, Andrew Ntul Mensah, also known as ‘Scorpion GH’, has been reportedly shot by armed robbers.

According to reports, he was attacked in his house at Aburaso New Site near Kumasi in the Ashanti region at about 2:40 a.m on Thursday.

Officers from the Suntreso District Police Command rushed to the scene following a distress call and found Scorpion in a pool of blood in the said house.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the perpetrators used a car jerk to expand portions of a burglar-proof and gained access to the main building and went straight to the victim’s door.

Scorpion’s brother, Emmanuel Ntul, who confirmed this to the media, said his brother was shot in the right thigh and left ribs by one of the gun-wielding men during a struggle.

“He was with his wife and children when the incident happened. They forced the door open during a struggle and according to him, one of them was ordered to shoot at my brother,” he said.

Mr Ntul indicated that his brother sustained severe injuries because the robbers used a sharp object to hit his left ribs.

He said they rushed Scorpion to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and is receiving treatment there.

Meanwhile, police have since retrieved the jerk, three empty shells of spent 9mm cartridges, and a nose mask as part of their investigations.

The steering committee on “BEYOND THE YEAR OF RETURN” inaugurated

The Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Barbara Oteng-Gyasi has inaugurated a steering committee on BEYOND THE YEAR OF RETURN which is an ambitious project outlined by Ghana’s Tourism Ministry, under His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo’s administration, after having successfully made great stride in organising THE YEAR OF RETURN programme, which saw the influx of many diasporas and celebrities worldwide into the country.

According to Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi, the BEYOND THE YEAR OF RETURN” project seeks to further consolidate the gains made under “THE YEAR OF RETURN” programme and seeks to boost the country’s tourism sector and hence the socio-cultural and economic advancement of the country.

She further indicated that the project is also envisaged to be a catalyst that would propel Ghana’s Creative Arts Industry, considering that, the creative economy is a multi-billion industry, which can turn around the economic fortunes of the country for the betterment of the Ghanaian citizenry.

The committee is co-chaired by a Board Member of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mr. Kwame Boateng, a lawyer and Mr. Akwasi Awua Ababio of the Office of the Diaspora Affairs at the Flag Staff House.

Other members of the committee include the Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. John Yao Agbeko, and three representatives from the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Ekow Sampson, Mr. Ben Anane Nsiah, and Mrs. Roberta Dawson Amoah.

Other representatives include Mr. Lawrence Kofi Azuma from the Ministry of National Security, Prof. Esi Sutherland Addy from the PANAFEST Foundation, Mrs. Khadijah Iddrisu from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Shaibu Pabi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, Ms. Edith Arhin from the Ghana Immigration Service, Mr. Yoofi Grant from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mrs. Amy Appiah-Frimpong from the Ghana National Theatre, Ms. Jessica Ayivor from AAAG, Mr. Kingsly Ofosu Ntiamoa From the Ghana Museum and Monuments Board and some representatives from the African American Association of Ghana.

The “BEYOND THE YEAR OF RETURN programme, according to the Hon. Minister is primarily hinged on seven (7) cardinal pillars and outlined as follows: Experience Ghana, invest in Ghana, Brand Ghana, Celebrate Ghana, Pathway to Ghana, give back to Ghana and Improve Tourism Heritage Assets.

Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi entreated the committee to endeavor to deliver on their mandate and also used the occasion to eulogize the committee members for the YEAR OF RETURN” for the excellent performance in organising the programme.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), who is also the project coordinator of the programme, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman recounted the success stories chalked by THE YEAR OF RETURN event, and intimated that Covid-19 has presented a new dawn of challenge to the implementation of the new project and gave the assurance that his outfit would do its best to ensure that the objective of the current project is realized to enable Ghana derive its fullest benefit.

The Co-Chairperson of the committee, who is also a board member of the GTA Mr. Kwame Boateng stressed that in spite of Covid-19, Ghana’s tourism sector would bounce back and thrive for the better. He indicated that his team would live up to expectation in order to achieve the intended purpose for which the BEYOND THE YEAR OF RETURN programme has been envisaged by government.

The committee members were sworn into office by a High Court Judge, Justice Alex Owusu-Ofori.

The BEYOND THE YEAR OF RETURN programme is an epilogue to the Year of Return Ghana 2019 campaign event, and sought to commemorate the 400 years of arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Virginia, USA. It was launched by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in 2018 in Washington, Virginia in the USA.

There are some celebrities existing in the industry who bring more bad than good to our lives.

They indulge in controversy for the sake of controversy with no shame to hold them back from the limits that normal human beings stay away from.

Every single day they manage to find themselves in the news with one outrageous act or another just for attention.

These celebrities need Jesus, as the saying goes, but since Jesus is not coming anytime soon they need a tongue lashing from Eno Barony.

The rapper has proven her lyrical prowess and dexterity in her current ongoing beef against Sista Afia and Medikal.

Eno Barony lashed Sista Afia so bad in ‘Argument Done’ that she couldn’t reply and was left posting lame messages on Instagram in response.

Medikal also decided to ‘bring himself’ and attacked Eno online but she replied in a mature manner once again showing her writing skills.

Need I say anymore? Counsellor George Cyril Canstense Lutterodt is the black sheep of black sheep. Hardly a day goes by without him making some outrageous comment meant to shock and awe.

Lutterodt exists for the attention these sick comments bring him, which in turn makes him a valuable commodity to the media.

Just within the past couple of weeks, Lutterodt has said that beautiful ladies have bad breath and worn his wife’s underwear as a facemask.

2. Afia Schwarzenegger

Another troublesome Ghanaian celebrity in need of Jesus is Afia Schwarzenegger.

Afia has done it all – she regularly posts erotic photos unbecoming of her and has a sharp tongue that an cut through metal. When the insults start flowing there is no line Afia in unwilling to cross and no level she won’t stoop to.

She has beefed half the celebrities in Ghana and that’ even before we get into her scandalous relationships with Junior and Abrokwah.

3. Moesha Boduong

CNN celebrity Moesha Boduong is another person causing havoc in Gh showbiz who needs a tongue lashing from Eno Barony as soon as possible.

Moesha is a founding member of the ashawobrity club of Ghana, queen of flying around the world on exotic vacations no one can really fathom how it’s financed.

Her Instagram page is like an advert for an escort service and that’s even before we get to her comments on CNN which painted all Ghanaian ladies in a really negative light, telling Christine Amanpour that Ghanaian women need to date big men to pay rent and buy fuel.

Moesha really needs a few hot bars to set her brain straight!

4. Angel Bishop Daniel Obinim

There are a million new age pastors we could have put on this list but none is more troublesome or dangerous than Angel Obinim.

This is a charlatan who has managed to convince his extremely credulous followers that he is an angel of God who can do no wrong.

He is never criticized by his followers and no matter how many fake miracles he performs, they always fil the church and fill his coffers with all their money.

Obinim has lashed a pregnant girl in his church, allegedly slept with his own junior pastor’s wife and numerous other ladies, not to talk of his alleged miracles like pulling a pastor out of the land of the dead which everyone could see was staged.

5. Wendy Shay

The one name who does not belong on this list but intentionally put herself on this list is Wendy Shay. Most of the others on this list are pathologically incapable of stopping their deviant behaviour but Wendy Shay just looks like someone who likes to be deviant to keep her music career relevant.

She constantly makes inflammatory comments to get herself in the news and it’s pathetic to see.

Her twitter feed is like looking into the mind of an attention addict – a person willing to say anything just to get th e attention of Ghanaians.

She once said she’s ‘hotter than the coronavirus’, she called out Google for estimating her net worth at between $1-5m, claiming she’s worth much more than that. That’s even before we get to her claim that she and Beyonce are on the same level.

Any inflammatory comment Shay can pass to trend, no matter how dumb, she’s ready to make.
