The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, says Okyenman is solidly united behind the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his bid to win the December 2020 general elections.
At a durbar held in honour of President Akufo-Addo, on Friday, 2nd October 2020, on the second day of the President’s 3-day tour of the Eastern Region, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin noted that the President has demonstrated that he is, indeed, “a President for all Ghanaians”.
According to the Okyenhene, “all of his (President Akufo-Addo) policies have affected every part of Ghana, and have been of immense benefit to every Ghanaian. This is because he has an ancestry where greed and the love of money is eschewed. Service to the Ghanaian people is what he, President Akufo-Addo, is all about.”
The Chief continued, “The President could have easily been someone whose only motivation in office iss to amass wealth for himself. But, no, he has not done that at all. On the contrary, he has implemented policies that have benefitted us all, and improved our living standards.”
Touching on President Akufo-Addo’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin applauded the seventeen (17) addresses made by the President, which have so far outlined the measures being taken by Government to defeat the pandemic, as well as the steps to ease safely the restrictions.
“He has taught us the importance of observing and adhering to the COVID-19 protocols. We should thank God that, at this stage of our national life, he has given us a leader like him. At the height of the pandemic, he provided us with free water and free electricity. He also gave allowances to frontline health workers. This shows the large generosity of his heart,” he added.
The effective management of the economy over the last three and a half years by the Akufo-Addo Government, he stressed, has ensured that the pandemic, which has wreaked havoc on all economies around the world, did not bring untold hardships to the Ghanaian people.
On Free SHS, the Okyenhene indicated that this policy has ensured that money, or the lack of it, has not denied any Ghanaian child access to education, adding that other policies being initiated by the President such as 1-District-1-Dam, 1-Village-1-Dam, NABCO, the development of road infrastructure, and the Zipline drone delivery service are all bearing fruit.
“He was born into a good home. He begun to believe in the public values of equity, equality, freedom and the pursuit of justice. All these are virtues Nana Addo possesses. It is said that, by their fruits, you shall know them. If his policies are bearing fruit, we, in Okyeman, say ‘Nana toaso,” he added.
To residents of Okyeman, who have been beneficiaries of the President’s policies, the Okyenhene had a word of advice for them.
“If you are from Okyenman or a Ghanaian, and your child is a beneficiary of Free SHS and all the other policies of Government, and you believe there is a new wind of development blowing, and you don’t vote well on December 7…”, he retorted, eliciting a rapturous applause from the gathering.
Vote on my record On his part, President Akufo-Addo thanked the Okyenhene and Okyeman for the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation.
He told the gathering that “my Government did not come to do lazy work. All aspects of our national life have benefitted from our policies, be they in health, roads, industrialization, or agriculture. My Government has worked for the benefit of all Ghanaians.”
“I have proven that I did not come to lie to Ghanaians, but to work for the progress and development of Ghana and for all Ghanaians. I am asking the people of Ghana to assess me on the basis of my record, and, if they were satisfied with it, they should give me an opportunity to do more for them by voting for me”.
The President told the gathering further that “I am a man of my word. I did not come to deceive to anyone, and that is what has given me the courage to seek your support in the upcoming elections. This is what will strengthen me to consolidate the gains chalked in my first term.”
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has assured the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, that, going into the 7th December presidential and parliamentary elections, his record in office “will speak for him”.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made this known on Monday, 28th September 2020, when President Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace, at the commencement of a 3-day working visit of the Ashanti Region.
Addressing a durbar held in honour of the President, the Asantehene thanked the President for his continuous visit to Manhyia, both as leader of the opposition before the 2016 elections and as President of the Republic.
To this end, he stated that “Your good works in office will speak for you going forward into the election. We, in Asanteman, remember, we do not forget. Asanteman will, therefore, remember your good works on election day. All I can offer you is prayers and blessings.”
Even though Chiefs and traditional rulers are not to engage in partisan politics vote, the Asante noted that “we vote. We will vote based on the good works of the candidate.”
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, thus, urged President Akufo-Addo to direct his communicators and information dissemination machinery to “tell Ghanaians exactly what his Government has done and what is being done” in their respective communities, in the run-up to the December elections.
1,824 projects in Asanteman On his part, President Akufo-Addo thanked the Asantehene and Asanteman for the warm accorded him and his delegation on their arrival at Manhyia.
He explained that the purpose of his visit is officially to introduce himself, once again, to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate ahead of the December elections, and to seek his blessings for the contest.
The President also used the opportunity to introduce all of the party’s forty-seven (47) parliamentary candidates from the Ashanti Region, and appealed for the support of the Asantehene and Asanteman so the party can annex the three remaining constituencies, Asawase, Ejura Sekyedumase, and Sekyere Afram Plains, which eluded the party in the December 2016 polls.
Touching on his record in office, President Akufo-Addo told the Asantehene that development, under his tenure of office, has been distributed equitably to all parts of the country.
In the Ashanti Region, for example, the President indicated that a total of 1,824 projects are being undertaken, out of which 774 have been completed and 1,050 are still ongoing.
He told the Asantehene that there are 604 projects in the education sector, 92 in health, 151 road projects, 606 in the water and sanitation sector, 1 in aviation and 1 in the ports sector.

Ato Panford and the New Patriotic Party’s 2020 Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Samuel Erickson Abakah.
This alleged misconception was conceived on the table of discussion when a legislature within and outside Shama constituency when, Mr. Samuel Erickson Abakah defeated the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency with 263 against 209 in an accumulated votes.
Meanwhile the incumbent Member of Parliament Hon. Ato Panford has disputed such misconception among Shama constituents as he has thrown out his support for the party’s Parliamentary Candidate, Hon. Lawyer Samuel Erickson Abakah in the 2020 December 7th polls.
He emphasize that there is absolute mutual communication between him and lawyer Abakah and he will be supporting the new parliamentary candidate so that the governing New Patriotic Party retains the seat in the Shama constituency.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, says the conduct of a free, fair, and transparent election, one whose result is beyond dispute, forms a good basis for strengthening cohesion amongst the Ghanaian citizenry, and preventing needless disputations.
Speaking at the Annual Conference of the Ghana Bar Association, albeit through virtual means, on Monday, 14th September 2020, President Akufo-Addo explained that from 1992 to date, the conduct of the country’s elections has evolved significantly.
According to President Akufo-Addo, the current multiplicity of media organisations and the power of social media, the existence of transparent ballot boxes, the decentralized nature of tallying and tabulation, and the mode of voter verification has engendered increasing trust and confidence by the citizenry in the process of electing their leaders.
Together with the compilation of a new voters’ register, ahead the conduct of the December 2020 elections, the President explained that “all of these enhanced processes have strengthened the cohesion of the nation. They have also repudiated as fallacious the contentions expressed at various times of our history that democratic governance would breed instability and ethnic conflict.”
He continued, “There have actually been those who went as far as to state that democracy was inherently alien to our culture and social make-up. The continuing success of the 4th Republic provides the most effective response to this unfortunate viewpoint.”
With electoral disputes wreaking havoc in some African countries, President Akufo-Addo stated that Ghana has been spared such incidents, adding that “we have the good sense of the Ghanaian people to thank for this, and we must continue to act as checks and balances for one another.”
Nonetheless, the President noted that Ghanaians cannot and must not take this good fortune for granted, urging all candidates, voters and citizens to conduct “ourselves in a manner that keeps us together as one people, irrespective of our ethnic, religious, gender or political differences and affiliations. The Ghana Project cannot afford ethnic agitations and sectarian pronouncements.”
The President was of the belief that the pressing challenge for Ghana is negotiating satisfactorily the interface between elections and democratic governance, institution-building and development, poverty, jobs and economic growth, with the overriding objective being to enrich the dignity of the Ghanaian.
“There are many examples of countries around the world where that stable period of constitutional government and intelligent management of the economy led to general prosperity. We, in Ghana, can profitably emulate them, for we can make it, if we work at it,” he added.
President Akufo-Addo expressed his delight at the fact that “the political class and stakeholders have agreed upon the necessity, in the face of the pandemic, to hold the December general elections as scheduled to bolster the evolution of our constitutional order, and maintain the culture where executive and legislative authority are exercised in the 4th Republic only by duly elected officials. Ghanaian democracy will be the stronger for that shared commitment.”
He reassured Members of the Bar Association that his Government is making unstinting efforts to ensure the peace and stability of the nation, as Ghana enters the last three (3) months of the electioneering campaign.
“Ghana has rightly earned a reputation as the pacesetter in democratic governance on the continent, a reputation I am determined to uphold, and, indeed, enhance prior to, during and after the 7th December elections,” the President assured.
To this end, he appealed for the co-operation and assistance of all citizens, especially members of the Bar Association, stating that “we have all to work together to create the environment that will allow the Ghanaian people to make their decision on 7th December in freedom, peace and security. It is their right.”
In concluding, the President added that “when my time is up, hopefully, after four more years, I want to hand over to my successor and the sovereign people of Ghana, a country that is greater, fairer, stronger, more cohesive, more prosperous and more united than I met it in 2017. This is the solemn undertaking to which I have committed myself.”

He continued, “I want you to know that we are solidly behind you. We are told Chiefs are not supposed to engage themselves in partisan politics. However, it gets to a point in time where you have to help the person who helps you in your time of need. We are solidly behind you, and we are declaring today that ‘four more for Nana’, ‘four more to do more’.”
Techimantia At Techimantia, after President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the construction of the 40.1km Bechem-Techimantia-Akomadan road, the Krontihene, Nana Ampong Koromantan, prayed to God for long life, good health and strength for the President of the Republic.

Indeed, the presence of a lot of the townsfolk at this durbar testifies to the fact that we have already accepted you as one of us. It is four more for you,” he added.
Bechem Commissioning a Business Resource Centre for the Tano South District, Bechemanhene, Nana Fosu Gyeabuor II, expressed the gratitude of the Chiefs and people of Bechem for the Centre constructed by the President and his Government.

Mr. Jackson said the good people of AAK will not be the “Esau” in the current dispensation to sell their birthright to a foreigner.
It’s very appalling to see certain individuals, because of their selfish interest try to impose someone from nowhere on the people of AAK.
He asked the political figure key questions below:
√Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu should show us his family house and who his family head is?
√Tell us what you did for us as a minister for eight (8) good years.
√He should just mention one project he brought to Abura Asebu Kwamankese or a Chief or a village he visited during his 8 years as a minister.
√Which Chief from the three traditional states did he invite at his vetting or any other occasion as a minister?
The former deputy minister, was rejected at Cape Coast North when he went there to contest. Later, he went to Mfansteman constituency where he was also rejected as well because he’s neither from there nor qualify as a normal residence. So WHY AAK?
He further stated that, maybe few people in NDC in the constituency can take money from him and sell their birthrights but the traditional authorities, opinion leaders and the general population will not sell theirs.
The people in the constituency cannot and will not sell Abura Asebu Kwamankese to a foreigner, so after December 7th polls the former deputy minister of information can go back and collect whatever anyone took from him.
The Ghanaian electorate of today are more enlightened pertaining to governance and they are well abreast with issues of the economy, so it is difficult to swindle them.
Recently ex President Mahama has been making vain promises to the Ghanaian electorate in order to win their votes, meanwhile he was against the same policies when he was the head of state and steering the affairs of this nation.
During Mahama’s tenure of office he said, and I quote ” I am not a magician to employ you” this is what he told unemployed graduates and now he is saying he will create 1 million jobs if he is elected. He also said Free SHS will collapse Ghana’s education system but he is now claiming he brought Free SHS. He further stated he will not restore teacher trainees allowance even if it cost him his re-election but he is now saying he will maintain trainee teachers and nurses allowance. Mr Mahama led campaign to reject the introduction of Ghana card but he later went to register for the card including his wife.
During his tenure he increased electricity tariff and told Ghanaians if we want light we should pay more, he is also saying he will legalise okada but during his tenure of office most okada riders were arrested and they were told it is illegal to operate okada, because he wants votes he is trying to say he is holier than the Pope.
As ex President Mahama said “Ghanaians have short memory” but I am reminding him what he did when he was steering the affairs of the nation, the biggest scam of the decade was Mahama’s $10 billion Hope City project.
With this track record, I think he is credibility bankrupt and needs to stand aside and learn from His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-addo who is shaping the tattered economy you left.

This is a great thing for Ghana. Again, Free SHS has reduced the financial burden on parents, and has allowed students, who would have, otherwise, truncated their education at JHS level, now have the opportunity to further their education, and, thereby, guaranteed a brighter future,” he said.
The Kyidomhene continued, “There were many who said Free SHS was not going to be possible. You (President Akufo-Addo) have done well by fulfilling this promise. Planting for Food and Jobs, Youth in Afforestation, are some of the policies benefiting residents of Sene East”.
He also thanked President Akufo-Addo for decentralsiing the processing of awarding scholarships, and thanked the President for instituting the policy of NABCO which has helped solve the problem of graduate unemployment.
Praying for good health, wisdom and long life for President Akufo-Addo, Nana Osore Krunku III, on behalf of the Chiefs and people of the Nkomi Traditional Area, stated that “four more years for Nana is already assured. There is no question about it.”
Home towns of Presidential candidates are normally ‘no go zones’ for their main opponents but Vice President Bawumia on Monday defied that widely-held view in Bole, the hometown of NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.
On the 4th day of his tour of the northern regions of the country, Dr. Bawumia stormed Bole to round off his visits to the newly created Savannah Region.
What was meant to be a private visit to the Bole Naa turned out to be a stunning experience as the home of Mahama offered Dr. Bawumia an unimaginable tumultuous welcome.
Scores of youth met the Vice President at the entrace of Bole in the outskirts and led him into the town and to his destination.
As his entourage slowly headed to the Bole Naa’s Palace, scores of people, both young and old poured out in their numbers and followed him to the Palace.
By the time Dr. Bawumia was through with his meeting with the Bole Naa, people had massed up in front of the Palace chanting songs in support of President Akuffo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia.
As Bawumia stepped out of the Palace, the crowd demanded he says something and he obliged.
“Wow! This is Bole! This is Bole! This is Bole!”, a stunned Dr. Bawumia said.
He continued: “From what i seee tonight, in shaa Allah David Sey Dema will be the next member of Parliament for Bole Constituency.”
“We are so happy for this welcome. This is a massive welcome,” he added.
Dr. Bawumia said the 2020 elections is about records and sustaining the massive and inclusive development, as well as the social interventions President Akufo-Addo has initiated in his first.
He said unlike former President Mahama, who disappointed the north despite pumping $100 million dollars into SADA, President Akufo-Addo has kept faith with the north with several development initiatives.
Dr. Bawumia said, even Bole Constituency, the home of former President Maham has not been left out, as it has benefited from 10 dams from the One Village One Dam, among other national interventions.
As Dr. Bawumia listed President Akufo-Addo’s numerous achievements one after the other, the ecstatic crowd responded wildly to it.
He urged them to make history by voting massively for President Akufo-Addo and electing the NPP Parliamentary candidate to Parliament.
The Communication Secretariat of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency of the Western Region has advised the Incumbent Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party ‘NPP’, Hon. Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has said that the residents of Komenda are naturally lazy and wicked and will do anything to sabotage any developmental projects.
According to him, he had a bitter experience with the residents of Komenda and realized that the Komenda Sugar factory was going to fail. Speaking on KFM TV disclosed how he and some partners decided to revive the Komenda Sugar factory some years ago.
He said that his partners and himself acquired 11,000 hectares of land to plant sugarcane which will be used to feed the factory in order to ensure consistent production. However, some residents sent the farm ablaze after receiving their compensation for no reason.
“I’m not afraid of them. The people of Komenda are naturally born bad. These people are wicked and also lazy at the same time. You burnt my farm but now who is suffering? You are suffering and I’m here doing very well. I knew the Komenda Sugar factory will fail but I didn’t want to be a prophet of doom and even if I had said anything about it, they would have said because it’s another political party so I had to be quiet about it.”

After the recent Volta Regional Tour by Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, John Dramani Mahama, he is seriously being called upon now to render an apology for peddling politics of insult in the region.
Below is a Press release from Dufia of Klikor, Torgbi Xenodzi Dogbey II, Seer King of the Worgbato Kingdom of Klikor in the Volta region.
IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
It has come to the notice of the Chiefs of Ketu South that, in the just-ended recent tour of the Volta Region by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. John Dramani Mahama , made a statement which we the Chiefs see as an insult to the Paramount Chiefs of Ketu South. In a letter dated 12th of August, 2020, a four (4) days’ Time schedule tour issued by the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress and his Team, Klikor was not listed and was forgotten on the list of places to be visited. However, even though he managed to see the Fiaga of Klikor and other paramount Chiefs of Ketu South, he spoke ill of them when he reached Ketu North. Mr. John Dramani Mahama told the Paramount Chiefs of Ketu North that the Paramount Chiefs of Ketu South are not united, saying he would not visit them first in his next visit.
We call on the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress to render an unqualified apology to the Paramount Chiefs of Ketu South Now. We want him to quickly retract his statement or face the wrath of the people of Ketu South in the December Polls with reduced votes.
We the Chiefs of Ketu South will not tolerate any politician who peddles politics of insult as we badly overheard Mr. John Dramani Mahama called the current President of Ghana, a Clearing Agent. Why?
All citizens of this country know that COVID-19 has impacted negatively on our economy and economies around the world, causing Job loses but our government skillfully kept inflation low compared to 2016 when inflation was badly more than 16%. Who then are the better managers of Ghana’s economy? Again, we have also noticed that Ketu South, Ketu North and Volta Region as a whole have been badly denied development and support by the National Democratic Congress, NDC, during their Sixteen (16) years of power, 1993-2000 and 2009-2016.
Is that the reward you give to your people for voting for you? Where were your promises?
Chieftaincy or Kingship has been very powerful in our land before the advent of today’s Politics. Therefore, we the people of Klikor, descendants of ancient Hebrews would not tolerate politicians who insult the intelligence of our revered Paramount Chiefs or King of Kings for Political gains.
We were surprised when the flagbearer of the NDC said the current government abandoned all the projects of the NDC government because we know for in truth that the current Government has completed more than Fifteen (15) projects started by NDC government in its first term. Finally, how could the leader of the NDC refer to Special Persecutor as an NPP person mischievously during his Volta Regional tour? Clean and fair Politics of issues is what we want. We don’t think there is anything wrong with Ghanaians giving the Current Government a 58.2% victory for Continuity.
We do not think a debate with the Current President is necessary since we are all witnesses of your track records.
The General Secretary of the governing NPP, John Boadu, has asked the NDC to feel free to copy the NPP 2020 manifesto since they [the NDC] are still struggling to put their manifesto together and launch same. He said, even though the NDC had announced about two months ago that their manifesto was ready, the party, till date, is still unable to launch the said manifesto.
This development, he said, only exposes the falsity of the NDC’s claim on the readiness of their manifesto. According to the NPP chief scribe, the NDC has always lacked innovative ideas on how to govern this country, and that, they often times depend on the ideas espoused by other parties and interest groups. And since they are not the originators of such ideas, they find it difficult to implement same culminating in the widely held view that the NDC is an incompetent party.
“It is worth pointing out that our opponents announced to the world some two or so months ago that their manifesto was ready and had been presented to their party leadership; yet, they have still not been able to launch it for the people of this country to see what is in it. Obviously, they are waiting for us to launch our manifesto so they can copy our ideas as usual. Well, we have launched ours today and they are free to copy since they lack ideas. We have no fears because as has been shown over and over again, when you appropriate an idea or project that you don’t fully understand or believe in, you can never implement it properly”, he said.
He was speaking at the launch of the 2020 Manifesto of the NPP on Saturday, August 22, 2022, at Cape Coast. The Manifesto is anchored on the theme “Leadership of Service: Protecting Our Progress, Transforming Ghana for All”, as the party says it is seeking to consolidate the many gains it has made in its three and half year rule, and do even much more to transform the Ghanaian society.
The erudite Vice President of the Republic and NPP Running Mate, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who chaired the Manifesto Committee, gave a comprehensive overview of the document. He said, the Manifesto is hinged on three main thematic areas which include Accounting for the NPP’s Stewardship, Consolidating Our Progress, and the NPP’s Plans for Accelerated Growth.
The former National Democratic Congress Central Regional Chairman Bernard Allotry Jacob has said that given the NPP another four years in power Ghana will look like Paradise interms of development.
Speaking to Kasapa FM News’ Yaw Boagyan when the president commissioned the CASA DE ROPA factory under the 1D1F at Gomoa Bewadze in the Gomoa West District of the Central Region, he applauded the government for introducing the policy which has created numerous employment to the people of Central Region and in Ghana as well.
“If Nana Addo continues creating jobs like he is doing now, and Ghanaians should give him another four term he will turn Ghana into Paradise so I personally support his 1D1F policy.”
“As at now the government has commissioned two factories in the Central Region which are the Ekumfi Pineapple and Fruit Juice Factory at Ekumfi Nanaben and Casa De Ropa factory at Gomoa Bewadze which have given the teeming youth in the areas jobs. The factories have employed both skilled and unskilled labour and over 400 local people have been employed. Indeed Ghana will turn into an industrialized nation and youth unemployment will be reduced,” Allotey Jacobs added.
A Ghanaian Actress and bossom friend of Mr. John Mahama, Afia Shwarzeneger has chastised Mr. Mahama for saying that if he wants a debate between him and H.E Nana Addo over who has done a lot of infrastructure projects for the country, then he should debate Tracy and Gloria.
According to Afia Shwarzeneger, Mr. Mahama should rather debate Tracy Boakye and Gloria Kani in order to clear his name if he thinks he hasn’t done things that they are accusing him of. She explained that Mr. Mahama doesn’t deserve the attention of H.E Nana Addo because what Nana Addo has done for this country is uncomparable.
She stated that she will support Mr. Mahama’s call for a debate between him and H.E Nana Addo after he has done with Tracy Boakye.
The Ablekuma North NPP parliamentary candidate, Ms. Sheila Bartels, yesterday paid a courtesy call on the various royal families of Ablekuma North. She was accompanied by a high powered delegation which included the Ablekuma North MCE; Hon. Kofi Ofori, the presiding member – ABNMA; Edmond Lomo; some key members of the campaign team including Alhaji Adamu, John Ortsin (Brother), Mr Opoku-Sika, Serwah Akoto, and the constituency executives including 1st Vice Becky Hesse-Lartey, Secretary Samuel Larbi, Organiser Kwaku Duah, Women’s Organiser Mrs Afia Agyeman Asamoah and a host of other executives.
Together with her team, Sheila visited the Kwashieman, Odorkor, Odorkor Tsuim, Odorkor Official Town, Darkuman, Awoshie (Nii Lafa) and Odorkor Maclean palaces. Her visit was occasioned by the imminent celebration of the Homowo festival in the aforementioned areas.
Speaking through a spokesperson, the NPP parliamentary candidate introduced herself to the royals and indicated her readiness to work hand in hand with the royals and all constituents to boost development in Ablekuma North. She also donated some bags of maize (official crop of the Homowo festival), packs of water and cash to the royals as her contribution to the preparation for Homowo.
The royals expressed their gratitude to Sheila Bartels and her entourage for their kind donation. Some also expressed that they had high hopes for her and believed that much like her father, Hon. Kwamena Bartels, she will foster and develop an excellent relationship with the royals and use it as a catalyst for accelerated development.

Why should I vote for my Parliamentary Candidate? Scientific Evidence
The choice of a parliamentary candidate in general elections conspicuously does not come as luck would have it. In the subconscious mind of the voter, some criteria is evaluated and the identification, assessment and adherence to those criteria with respect to individual constituencies cannot be downplayed in elections. The fact that some parliamentarians that made it to the Top 10 Most Vocal Members of Parliament (MPs) report published in May 5, 2020 by Edwin Appiah did not get even the nod from within their own parties to continue representing their constituents gives credence to the science of voting and further shows that, going into general elections, candidates underestimate the key roles and values of these facts at their own peril. The significant roles of the following MPs in their constituencies namely Hon Alban Sumani Bagbin (fmr MP, Nadowli West); Hon Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh (Majority Chief Whip, MP, Sunyani East); Hon Haruna Idrisu (Minority Leader, MP, Tamale South); Hon.Shirley Ayokor Botchwey (MP, Anyaa-Sowutuom); Hon Kwame Governs Agbodza (MP, Adaklu); Hon Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu (Majority Leader/ Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, MP, Suame); Hon Kennedy Agyapong (MP, Assin Central) and recently Hon Dr. Zanetor Rawlings (MP, Korley Klottey) among others were/ are not merely coincidental. They were not by chance, they worked for it.
Theoretical models that explain the electoral behaviour namely- sociological model of voting behaviour, psychosocial model of voting behaviour and rational choice theory literally addresses “what voters want to hear, know and see”. The criteria are outlined and require detailed analysis as a guide to candidates.
The Connection/Accessibility to voters (In Community building, social gatherings etc.)
Community Relationship (demonstration of respect/concern/humility/empathy)- non-financial
Legislative Impact (if already in Parliament) e.g. ranking, voice heard in chamber etc.)
Lobbying Skills (believed to be connected to top hierarchy to influence position/ assistance/developmental projects) Management of Propaganda/Outright lies
Affluence (financial base, outspoken, charisma, education e.g. legal/ a professional) Regional/
Moral Character (honesty, integrity, decency, trustworthiness etc.)
Attitude towards work (energy in the candidate)
NB: Weights attached to these criteria are constituency specific as will be determined.
A candidate that benefits from a critical assessment of the above and a corresponding adherence to the findings established can be deemed to be safe, ceteris paribus.

Former General Secretary of the NDC, Koku Anyidoho has made some revelations with regards to the death of the Late President John Evan Atta Mills. He expressed that his father, Atta Mills was a walking miracle because he should have died in 2004.
The Chief Executive Officer of Atta Mills Institute disclosed that this was revealed to him by the doctor who was in charge of Atta Mill’s health at 37 Military Hospital in Accra before he passed away.
He recounted that the late president lifeless body image can never leave his mind.
Koku Anyidoho said when he saw his lifeless body he wept and the Doctor told him “Koku, this is your father, he’s gone”.
He revealed that the doctor told him that the late president defied medical science for eight years so he (Koku) allow him to go and rest because Atta Mills is tired.
The revelation shows that the former president should have died in 2004.
He said the revelation by the doctor made him know why the late president was so close to God because he knew his time was due.
A piece of news gathered has it that the Awutu Senya East Constituency MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson has been arrested by police in the Central Region.
This follows a misunderstanding at a voters’ registration centre in Kasoa on Monday, which resulted in the Special Development Initiatives Minister firing a gun.
JoyNews reported that the Special Development Initiatives Minister said she only fired the gunshots when her life was threatened by some thugs alleged to be affiliated to the opposition NDC.
But despite this justification, the act has received massive condemnation from the public, with many calling for her resignation and subsequent prosecution.
JoyNews’ Central Regional correspondent Richard Kwadwo Nyarko who is at the Regional Police Headquarters reports that Hawa Koomson is currently being interrogated by CID investigators.
Meanwhile, some four suspects who were also arrested in connection with the disturbance have been granted bail.
A Cape Coast Circuit Court presided by Dorinda Smith Arthur granted them bail to the tune of ¢30,000 each with two sureties for which one must be a government worker whose net salary is ¢2000.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has described as unfortunate, former president John Mahama’s decision to end his tour of some registration centres.
Mr Mahama on his official Facebook post, announced his decision to stop his visits to some voter registration centres in the country’s capital, Accra due to the disregard for Coronavirus safety protocols.
“I have cut short my unannounced visit to some voter registration centres in Accra and Tema this afternoon. This is because of the very low awareness of the #COVID19 protocols including physical distancing and the wearing of masks.
“We have to step up public education on Covid-19 so that people can appreciate the risk,” he wrote.
The flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress started his tour in the Volta region where he spoke to chiefs and elders in the region after his rounds.
Reacting to this, the EC Commissioner, Mrs Mensa, noted that her outfit has put in place stringent measures to ensure that registrants observe the safety protocols and that despite the measures put in place, it was incumbent on registrants and all stakeholders to adhere to the protocols.
For some time now some banks in Ghana have been closed down following poor management and some other factors. We appreciate and accepts that jobs and properties have been lost but the harm of allowing these banks to operate would have been greater than this if not government’s swift intervention.

Recently Founder of Perez Chapel, Bishop Charles Agyinasare has waded into the discussion by criticizing government for the action taken. He blamed the government for taken this action without considering helping them to be solvent meanwhile the damaged caused was beyond repairs and government had no option than to take these steps to merged the defunct banks (Consolidated Bank Ghana) which is fully in operational while their directors are in court so Bishop Agyinasare describing these efforts of government as “Enviness” is out of place.
The Government never closed down any of these banks but only took over management of these banks.

We think the respectable Bishop should rather talk commend government for the action taken to save depositors funds and as well support government to fight these CEO’s and directors who deliberately mismanaged these funds to served as deterrent to others who potentially want to choose that path thinking they can also walk freely.
The Minority in Parliament led by their chief economic and financial propagandist Hon. Isaac Adongo has peddling falsehood for cheap political points but thank God Ghanaians are intelligent and could read between facts and lies no matter how noise they make.
President Akuffo Addo upon advice from the Economic Management Team (EMT) ably led by the learned Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia took a decision to revoke licenses of these defunct banks swiftly to save depositors funds. There’s the misrepresentation that government deliberately collapsed the banks for it’s own parochial interest knowing very well it was consolidated.

NPP Asokwa Constituency 1st Vice Chairman Member Of NPP National Communications Team
Dr. Bishop Charles Agyinasare has been busy with his criticisms of the Akufo-Addo administration in the clampdown in the financial sector.
For some time now, we have been wondering what might have fuelled these boatload of criticisms from the revered man of God.
It has been revealed that Bishop Agyinasare’s rather critical renditions lately are not in a vacuum. There is an underlying reason.
The Bank of Ghana, in its decision to clean up the banking and financial sector, touched on the nerves of the owner of Perez Chapel International.
As a matter of fact, Bishop Agyinasare was the board chairman for the FirsTrust Savings and Loans which was caught in the web of those financial entities which were empty.
In fact, the financial institution the good Bishop was a board chairman of was run aground and had to be closed down.
Thousands of depositors would have lost their investments if the central bank had allowed that status quo to remain.
It is all about interest. Bishop Agyinasare has interest in that financial entity whose board he chaired. No wonder a canary bird is sitting comfortably in his home!
The Electoral Commission has withdrawn the voters identification card issued to the opposition National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary candidate for the Cape Coast North.
According to the Commission, Kwamena Mintah Nyarku allegedly provided false information when he applied for the card, hence, the withdrawal.
EC’s decision might prevent Mr Nyarku from contesting for the 2020 parliamentary seat of the Cape Coast North constituency since he may not have a voters card when the nominations and registration opens.
And by the electoral laws, one cannot contest for a year’s election if the individual is not a registered voter.
The decision to withdraw his card was communicated to him a short while ago.

This paper’s several attempts to get the person to partner the NDC’s John Dramani Mahama in the battle against Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for some days, continue to draw the response “JM is keeping everything close to his chest” and “the man is tight-lipped”.
The ex-President’s aides, who would ordinarily talk to The Herald, continue to insist they are not aware of the boss’ choice for a running mate, but they were sure that he was going to make a good choice to enhance the NDC 2020 ticket.
But the names of many party members continue to make the rounds with report that one of them could be named soon, after Mr Mahama’s final meeting with the National Executive Committee (NEC).
This will be after meetings with NDC’s founder Jerry John Rawlings and the current Chairman of the Council of Elders of NDC, Alhaji Iddrisu Mahama.

The last meeting between him and the NEC at the party’s headquarters was to decide on the membership of the National Campaign Tema led by Joshua Alabi.
Although tight-lipped, The Herald is informed that names such as ex-Finance Minister, Kwesi Botchway, ex-Education Minister, Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, Kwame Awuah Darko, the former boss of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) and the Bulk Oil Storage and transportation Company (BOST), Kwasi Ahwoi, a former Agric and Interior Minister.
Also, on the list, The Herald learnt, is Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former Finance Minister, banker and businessman, who once served as Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BOG).
Former Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) as well as the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Alex Mould, is also on the list.
The Herald picked up information that, although ex-President Mahama, wanted Prof. Kwesi Botchway as running mate, based on his knowledge and experience of managing the Ghanaian economy during the turbulence times of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), the Military junta led by Flt. Lt. JJ Rawlings, the man who was once served as Chairman of the National Development Planning (NDPC) complained of old age, failing health, as well as family protest. But for these, Prof. Botchway, would have been named long ago.
His only challenge was that he was coming from the Central Region, because the NDC, had had John Evans Atta Mills, and Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur from the region. Some party bigwigs, feel that the Central Region, has been offered a lot of opportunities to serve the country.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a former Finance Minister, is mentioned as the candidate of ex-President Jerry John Rawlings. His experience as an economist, a former lecturer, a banker, a businessman; owner of the Unibank, Unicredit, Star Insurance, Prime Insurance, Starr FM among others.
His Ashanti lineage, to many is to serve as a big plus as the NDC is seen to be dominated by Northerners, Ewes, Fantes, Nzemas among others, but the Ashantis are believed to be in the party, but have always played a backburner’s roles. But like Prof. Botchway, Dr.Duffour, is also facing the age issue. He is over 70-years, just like Prof. Botchway.
Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, appears to be in a pole position among all with her gender, record as the first female Vice-Chancellor of a University; the University of Cape Coast (UCC). A former trained journalist, who also served as an Education Minister, where she excelled and made a name for herself.
Alex Mould, who is also on the list has over 30 years of international energy and banking experience, and widely regarded as one of Africa’s leading authorities on energy, economic and leadership issues.
The ex-boss of the national oil company for Ghana, was charged by President Mahama to develop GNPC into an independent and world-class operator, through the execution of an accelerated growth strategy.
He began his career with GNPC, where his core responsibilities, included refining, crude and petroleum products supply and risk management.
Prior to joining GNPC, he was responsible for regulating the downstream sector as CEO.
He is said to be passionate about local content and public-private partnerships that demonstrate how the energy sector can generate investment and drive economic empowerment and transformation.
Mr Mould is said to have extensive corporate and investment banking experience was gained from Standard Chartered Bank (New York and Ghana) and Union Bank of Switzerland (New York), focusing on transaction origination, client relationship management, product management, strategic planning, business strategy and development.
Alexander holds an MBA (Finance, Economics and Decision Science) from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University, Illinois. He also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma (Oil Marketing and Economics) from College of Petroleum Studies, Oxford; and a Chemical Engineering BSc from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST), Kumasi in Ghana.
His Expertise are mentioned as leadership, management, finance, economic management, power, Oil & Gas. (Upstream), Crude and Petroleum Products supply and trading.
Other media reports have also mentioned MP for Korle-Klottey Constituency and daughter of ex-President Rawlings, Dr. Zenator Rawlings and NDC’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, among others.
Social media publication WhatApp news, report how Mr Mahama’s choice had come after a long string of consultations within the opposition party which was truncated by the outbreak of the terrifying Covid-19 coronavirus in the country.
The NDC running mate selection, has been a subject of intense concern for political pundits who have warned that picking a running mate too close to a major presidential election could be a fatal gamble for John Mahama.
Even Mr Mahama’s arch-rivals in the governing NPP and the incumbent flagbearer of the party, Akufo-Addo, had taken pot-shots at the NDC candidate for the seeming delay.
Beaming excitedly while picking his own running mate on Saturday, June 27, 2020, Akufo-Addo referred to the NDC’s running mate blues, saying: “…we have no such difficulty. We have the most fitting person to feature on our ticket.”
However, Mr Mahama, had earlier conceded that the outbreak of Covid-19 in Ghana mid-March 2020, had complicated matters on when would be considered appropriate to name his running mate, amidst radical public reforms being undertaken due to the coronavirus.
“In the midst of COVID-19, what is the use of naming a running mate you can’t even outdoor him. The president is encouraging all of us to stay at home, that’s not the most opportune time to come out and name your running mate and so we are on track,” the NDC flagbearer responded to a query put to him during a public event in May 2020.
Between the two shortlisted persons, Whatsup News gathered that Mr Awuah Darko is the favourite of Mr Mahama, but insiders say the powerful Ahwoi family, are relentless in their lobby for Kwasi Awoi to emerge the final running-mate.
The Ahwoi brothers are a powerful power bloc within the NDC and have reportedly groomed Kwasi Ahwoi for the top Job. The bloc is also nicknamed “Church Street” bloc.
Mr Ahwoi, may be judged based on his last appointment as Ghana’s interior Minister in comparison to Awuah-Darko’s milestone appointment as the unprecedented CEO of two major oil parastatal of Ghana-BOST and TOR.
During his time, Awuah Darko, was credited for virtually bringing the comatose TOR back to life and turn it around from a resource-guzzling entity to a profit-making one.

As CEO of TOR, Mr Awuah-Darko managed the restructuring of the entire refinery operations, slashing TOR’s perennial debt of $650million to some $350million.
Awuah-Darko, who hails from the Ashanti Region, has extensive experience in the finance and insurance spanning across Africa, Europe and the Americas, and he would be matching the NPP’s Bawumia on this front.
On the other hand, Mr Ahwoi’s forte is in planning and resource management, having held several positions in that regard. With his extensive professional and political career, he is surely a formidable choice.

On Wednesday, Mr Mahama, announced receipt of a copy of the party’s 2020 manifesto further confirming his readiness for the election.
Receiving the manifesto, Mr Mahama wrote on Facebook “this document, The People’s Manifesto, will represent the NDC and my social contract with the good people of Ghana.”
The Republic Day announcement came eight months after the NDC opened its doors to the public, calling for manifesto suggestions.
Expressing gratitude to the public for their contributions, Mahama wrote: I thank you all for your contributions to the compilation, and as I have promised.
“I look forward to the Policy Dialogue Series through which I will be sharing details of the various sectors and themes of the manifesto.”

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Thursday, 2nd July, 2020, paid unannounced visits to five voter registration centres in the Greater Accra Region.
The tour took him to the Kanda Cluster of Schools Registration Centre in Ayawaso East; Abossey Okai Presby Registration Centre in Ablekuma Central; Ebenezer Funeral Parlour (1&2) Registration Centres in Weija-Gbawe; Teshie Aboma Presby Church Registration Centre in Ledzokuku; and the Super Service Registration Centre in Klottey Korle.
Accompanied by the Director of Operations at the Presidency, Lord Commey, and the Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin, President Akufo-Addo interacted with the registration officials at each of the five centres, who walked him through the processes of registering an eligible voter.
The President was told that, upon entering a registration centre, all persons are required to wear a nose mask, after which their temperatures are taken by nurses stationed at each centre. Indeed, the Ghana Health Service has released some 7,000 community health nurses to the various registration centres.
Eligible persons are then required to wash their hands with soap under running water, before being allowed to join the queue.
At each of the centres, there was a strict adherence to social distancing, with eligible voters maintaining a one (1) metre, after which the voters go through the process to be registered.
President Akufo-Addo was told that the majority of persons who had turned up to be registered were in possession of the Ghana Card and passports. A small number of persons without any of these valid ID cards submitted one completed Identification Guarantee Form, endorsed by two registered voters, to be registered and issued with a voter ID card.
After the completion of the registration process and leaving the centres, the registration officials told the him that hand sanitizers had been provided for the mandatory sanitizing of hands by the eligible voters.
Visibly encouraged by the processes, the President urged the registration officials to continue to adhere to the safety protocols outlined to ensure the safety of all persons who visit the registration centres.
Interacting with some of the persons waiting in queue to be registered, the President urged them to continue to observe the COVID-19 safety protocols, whilst going through the process to be registered.

It will be recalled that during his recent broadcast to the nation, ahead of the commencement of the registration exercise, President Akufo-Addo noted that if an eligible citizen’s name is not on the register, that citizen cannot exercise the right to vote, and cannot, therefore, participate in the determination of the choice of the government of the day.

“It is, thus, vitally important that all eligible voters register, so, on the designated day of 7th December, they can vote to choose the President of the nation, and the Member of Parliament of their area. In effect, our vote, our thumb, is the expression of our individual sovereign power as a citizen, which we should cherish and guard at all times,” he said.
Last Friday, 26th June, 2020, Judith Okyere and Maxwell addressed a press conference at Sanfo Aduam and Ricky Opoku and David also addressed Koniyaw press conference all in Bekwai Constituency, to officially petition Lawyer Kwasi Amofa-Agyemang to contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming 2020 December polls.
Lawyer Amofa was denied the opportunity to contest the incumbent MP in the constituency who is the first deputy speaker of parliamentary, Hon Joe Osei Wusu (Joe Wise) in the just ended NPP primaries. Hence the petition and cries from some party folks, and sympathizers from various communities for Kwasi Amofa to contest as an independent candidate since Hon Joe Wise also became an MP through the same means.
Below is the content of the petition:
“PRESS CONFERENCE TO PETITION LAWYER KWASI AMOFA-AGYEMANG TO CONTEST AS AN INDEPENDENT CANDIDATE”
Good morning ladies and gentlemen of the press. We welcome you all to this emergency press conference called to officially petition Lawyer Kwasi Amofa-Agyemang to contest as an independent candidate in the upcoming general election.
Since the party opened nominations for this year’s Parliamentary primaries, the incumbent MP, Hon Joseph Osei Wusu and his collaborators have worked together to stifle competition and block the other aspirant, Lawyer Kwasi Amofa-Agyemang from participating in the race, and to ensure that Hon Joe Osei Wusu becomes the only candidate in the primaries at Bekwai this year.
Several unfair schemes have been adopted by Hon Joe Osei Wusu, and the Constituency Chairman, Mr Patrick Adu Gyamfi to deny Lawyer Amofa-Agyemang the chance to participate in the Parliamentary primaries. First, the Party Chairman ran away with the nomination forms, and Lawyer was denied access to the nomination forms until only two (2) days to the close of nominations when he was given the forms, but even that happened after we bused ourselves and travelled to the Party Head office in Accra to demonstrate.
Upon completion of his nomination forms, the incumbent MP and the Party Chairman locked the Party office and Lawyer Amofa-Agyemang could not submit his forms at the Party office.
Then came the time for vetting. These same people worked together to ensure only Hon Osei Wusu was recommended.
Lawyer Amofa-Agyemang filed an appeal against the decision of the Regional Vetting
Committee, though we were reliably informed that Lawyer Amofa-Agyemang has been cleared to contest the primaries, but the Party hierarchy played hide and seek and refused to make the Appeal Committee’s report public.
What made this even more worrying was the seeming complicity of the Party Hierarchy to abort the democratic processes and engineered to ensure only Hon Osei Wusu got the chance to stand for the primaries.
The people of Bekwai Constituency are aggrieved and wish to make it clear to the Party that we will not accept the imposition of Hon Osei Wusu on us in the 2020 elections. The rank and file in the Constituency are fed up with Hon Osei Wusu and want a new Candidate for these number of
Reasons:
High rate of youth unemployment in the constituency.
Lack of job creation and opportunities in the constituency.
Lack of youth development plan in the constituency.
Lack of electricity in eight (8) communities in our constituency.
Failure in creating equal opportunities for all constituents.
It’s an open secret that host of people who are in the good books of the MP are undertaking galamsey (illegal mining) in the constituency. These people have destroyed all the water bodies in the constituency with impunity.
Disunity in the constituency.
The need for a tertiary institution.
Failure to fulfill earlier promises to the constituents (Provision of fridges and television for teachers in the constituency, provision of cylinders to Anwiankwanta buffloaf sellers etc.)
About 14 communities have also threatened to abstain from voting in the parliamentary and presidential elections after Hon Joseph Osei Owusu was presented as the sole parliamentary candidate.
We are by the above reasons appealing to Lawyer Kwasi Amofa-Agyemang to contest as an independent candidate for our dear constituency. About 90% of we the youth in the Bekwai constituency declares our unflinching support.
