President Akufo-Addo launches cocoa farmers’ pension scheme.

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Tuesday, 1st December 2020, launched a pension scheme for the country’s 1.5 million cocoa famers.

According to President Akufo-Addo, “the Pension Scheme will enable cocoa farmers to make voluntary contributions towards their retirement, whilst COCOBOD makes a supplementary contribution on behalf of the farmers as well.”

This, he explained, “guarantees a decent retirement income for cocoa farmers for life, and ensures that they can maintain decent livelihoods after retirement.”

Launching the Pension Scheme at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, as part of his 3-day tour of the Ashanti Region, President Akufo-Addo there millions of cocoa farmers across the country who are responsible for the production of a crop, that has, for over a century, been the mainstay of the economy of the country.

In recognition of their hard work, the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) was mandated, under Section twenty-six (26) of the COCOBOD Law, 1984 (PNDC L.81), to establish a Contributory Insurance Scheme for Cocoa Farmers within the framework of the Social Security Scheme, so that they could also enjoy a well-deserved pension, upon retirement.

Unfortunately, successive Governments, for various reasons, were unable to fulfil this, much to the disapproval of cocoa farmers who continued to make demands for the establishment of the “Cocoa Farmers Pension Scheme”.

“As candidate Akufo-Addo, in the run-up to the December 2016 elections, I made a solemn pledge to cocoa farmers that, if the Ghanaian people reposed their confidence in me, and I won the election of 2016, my government would establish the pension scheme for them not just in fulfilment of the legal requirement, but also in line with Government’s plans to improve the living standards of cocoa farmers in Ghana,” he said.

Upon his assumption of office, the President tasked the CEO of COCOBOD, Hon. Joseph Boahen Aidoo, to begin to work earnestly with the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) and other stakeholders to set up a Cocoa Farmers Pension Scheme to support cocoa farmers enjoy a decent pension.

“Through the shared determination and expertise of those I put in charge to ensure the establishment of the scheme, both the legal framework and the technical structures have been put in place for the smooth take-off of this all-important scheme,” he said.

To ensure the successful rollout of the scheme, COCOBOD is embarking on a census to collect data on farmers for the Cocoa Management System (CMS), adding that “the CMS will hold a robust database of all cocoa farmers in the country, and track their contributions. It will also facilitate the prompt payment of claims to beneficiary farmers.”

President Akufo-Addo entreated all cocoa farmers to sign on to the Cocoa Farmers Pension Scheme, in order to enjoy the full benefits of the Scheme.

Don’t be complacent. vote massively for NPP – Mrs. Akufo-Addo tells Ashanti voters

First Lady of the Republic, H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo has called on NPP supporters in the Ashanti Region not to be complacent in assuming that the NPP will win in the Party’s stronghold even if they don’t come out in their numbers to vote, but rather not only come out in their numbers to vote but also encourage every citizen who has benefitted from policies implemented by the Nana Addo Administration, to also go out in their numbers to vote for the NPP.

She said the Akufo-Addo government apart from the Free SHS policy which has benefitted every Ghanaian, has also materialized the 1 District 1 Factory, 1 Village 1 Dam, Youth Employment initiative, NABCO, and several other promises made in 2016. Additionally, she said, the economic mitigation measures implemented by the government in the covid-19 era including free water and electricity has also benefitted every Ghanaian regardless of their political colour.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo said this when she toured the Ashanti Region as part of her campaign to garner votes for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the up-coming December 7th general elections.

Accompanied by the Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah, Mayor of Kumasi Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, NPP parliamentary candidate for Ejisu and Chief Executive officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), John Kuma and other senior government and Party officials, the First Lady paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, visited the AsanteHemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, and the Ejisuhemaa Nana Yaa Asantewaa II. She later attended a durbar of Queen mothers and Market queens in the Ashanti region at Ejisu.
At the Manhyia Palace, Mrs. Akufo-Addo thanked the Otumfuor and the AsanteHemaa for their continuous prayers and support for H.E. the President and the NPP government since assuming office in 2017 and said President Akufo-Addo during the period has worked hard to fulfill all his promises to the people of Ghana.

She said the Free SHS policy which many were skeptical about has materialized only because of the political commitment and competence of the Akufo-Addo administration and asked for Otumfuor and Asantehemaa’s blessings for the NPP administration to be retained to continue their good work.

AsanteHemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III thanked the First lady for her visit to the royal palace and prayed with her for a peaceful election, the outcome of which should advance the wellbeing of the country.
Later at the durbar of Ashanti Region Queen mothers and Market Queens, Mrs. Akufo-Addo said the NPP is the only Political Party which always implements policies which go to alleviate the economic hardships of women. She said the NHIS and free maternal care under President Kufuor and the Free SHS and restoration of Nursing and Teacher Trainee allowances under the Akufo-Addo administration have brought great relief to many families.

She urged the gathering not to assume the NPP will win the elections because others will go out and vote but rather go out to every house and every corner to rally votes for the NPP on December 7th, warning that the many laudable policies which the good people of Ghana are benefitting from risk collapse in the unlikely event that another party wins the elections.

The First lady also used the occasion to introduce the NPP parliamentary candidate for Ejisu Mr. John Kuma to the gathering and asked them to vote massively for him stating that it is when the NPP wins more seats in parliament that the good work of the next Akufo-Addo administration can be expedited for the benefit of all.

To the electorate, the President added that “everyone who has registered and is in possession of a voter ID card should not sit at home, and assume that ‘Nana has already won, so I won’t vote’. If you haven’t voted, Nana hasn’t won.”

The President continued, “So everyone should leave their homes on 7th December, go to your respective polling stations and vote massively for Nana and the NPP. That is what will give us a decisive victory we are after.”

With the NPP in control of one hundred and sixty-nine (169) seats in Parliament, President Akufo-Addo told residents of the Western Region of the importance of maintaining a majority of seats in Parliament.

REVEALED: Ebi Bright Burnt Her Cars For Public Sympathy

Some residents of Tema Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region have accused the Parliamentary Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Tema Central Constituency, Ebi Bright for setting her own cars ablaze to win public sympathy in the upcoming December polls

It would be recalled that two cars of the NDC candidate got burnt beyond repairs last Sunday dawn whiles it rained heavily.

Fortunately, no lives and other properties were lost in the incident which is under investigation.

However, Ebi Bright has accused her political opponents of having a hand in the fire incident.

But some residents of her area have rubbished such claims and accused her of burning her own cars looking at the circumstances surrounding the whole incident.

According to them, they are yet to understand why Ebi Bright who lives in a first class residential area with a gated community post that has a twenty four hour police post, could have her car burnt by someone who trespassed into her house

The NDC candidate resides in an area where the current Member of Parliament for Tema Central, Hon Kofi Brako in collaboration with the Community 6 and 10 residents association constructed a security post which has a police station which is four streets from the street Ebi Bright lives.

The residents also revealed that Ebi Bright also have CCTV cameras fixed in most laces in her house which can aid in the police investigations to accertain what actually transpired in the house

They wondered why the NDC in a rush to accuse their political opponents when the fire analysis and police investigations have to been completed.

“It’s a well orchestrated plan hatched to have her vehicles burnt in the house to win public sympathy and turnaround to use it as a bases to score political sympathy at a time when her campaign is suffering due to huge influence the NPP commands in Tema Central and it’s environs.

“Tema Central Constituency is a stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and has never come to close to the figures her opponent get in every elections she has contested in the area so why must your opponent obtain so why must you be targeted or worried about.
Let’s think beyond the rethorics,” one of her neighbours stated.

NPP parliamentarians are your best bet for development – First Lady to Ada and Sege residents

First lady of the Republic, Mrs. Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo has called on residents of the Ada and Sege constituencies in the Greater Accra Region to vote massively for the NPP in both the presidential and parliamentary elections, to witness unprecedented development.
She said voting religiously for a particular political party without witnessing a relative development is indicative of a Party which is complacent with the people’s welfare.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo made the remarks when she toured the Ada and Sege Constituencies, as part of her tour of the Greater Accra Region to canvass for votes for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the up-coming Presidential and Parliamentary elections, on December 7th.
At Ada, the First Lady attended a durbar of chiefs and party faithfuls held in her honour at Torgbloku where she urged the residents to vote for a political party with a track record of implementing policies which address their needs.

She said the NPP has the enviable track record of competently implementing social intervention policies which address the core concerns of the people, explaining that good health and education are core ingredients for human development and the NPP has the record of implementing the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) under President Kufuor and the Free SHS under President Akufo-Addo “This is what should inform you in deciding on who to vote for on December 7th, she said.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo introduced the NPP parliamentary candidate for Ada Madam Sarah Pobee who is also DCE for Ada East to the Chiefs and people, and appealed for their support in votes so she represents them in the next parliament.

The First Lady later commissioned the fully furnished, equipped and staffed Torgbloku CHPS Compound and donated items including beds, isolation gowns, latex surgical gloves, blankets, wheel chairs and some detergents to the Ada East District Hospital at Faithkpope.

At Sege, Mrs. Akufo-Addo met with fishmongers and womenfolk at the Goi School Park to interact with them and ascertain how government can facilitate the growth of their businesses. She also inspected on-going works on Phase 2 of the Sege market project and urged them to vote for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP parliamentary candidate for Sege, Madam Eunice Lasi to ensure completion of all on-going projects as well as execution of new ones.

She said the government of President Akufo-Addo is on the path of changing the country and with an NPP representative in parliament, the people of Sege will benefit immensely from this transformation.

“We have completed constructing an ambulance bay, the Astech school block, phase 1 of the Sege Market and already working on phase 2 which will come with a nursery for your children”, Mrs. Akufo-Addo said to a thunderous applause by the fishmongers and traders.

The First lady said beyond voting for a woman who will be more sensitive to their social and economic woes and so will advocate to pass laws in that direction, voting for an NPP parliamentarian will also mean voting for someone who shares the development aspirations of President Akufo-Addo and is willing and able to join him work to make that vision a reality.

She emphasized that though the Akufo-Addo led NPP government will not be discriminatory in extending development projects to all constituencies in the country, it is trite knowledge that voting for a parliamentary candidate who is a member of the governing Party, especially when that Party is the NPP, always inures to the benefit of the people.

The NPP Parliamentary candidate for Sege, Madam Eunice Lasi said the Free SHS policy has brought great relief to the people of Sege and has also caused a significant increase in enrolment of girls in school as the challenge of selecting one among many in a family to go to school, which often favoured the males, has ended.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo promised to address some needs raised by the traders and townsfolk including road construction, expeditious completion of phase 2 of the Sege market and its auxiliary facilities, as well as the provision of soft loans to expand their businesses.

The First Lady was accompanied on her tour by the CEO of Coastal Development Authority, Mr. Jerry Shaibu Ahmed, Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Divine Otoo Agorhom and other government and party officials.

“The Incompetent John Mahama is a pathological liar” – Suhum NPP communications Director

Honesty is of God and Dishonesty of the devil; the devil was a liar from the beginning…Joseph B. Wirthlin

Friday 6th November 2020, the indecisive and incompetent John Mahama was in the Suhum Constituency once again.

In 2016, he visited the people of Suhum at midnight and exactly so did he repeat in 2020.

This affirms what the Bible says; and that is the thief only appears in the evening.

I’m therefore by this communique correcting the gross lies he spewed to the good people of Suhum.

John Mahama said roads within the Constituency should be well maintained after it has been tarred and the simple question I’ve for him is, which of the roads in Suhum did he maintain, for instance Amanhyia to Akorabo to Kukua where his Chief of Staff, Julius Debra hailed from which was tarred by NPP 1 did he even for once think of maintaining it?

It’s NPP 1 who tarred that road and the NDC left it without patching it with a teaspoonful of coal, NPP assumed power in 2017 and now the Amanhyia -Akorabo -Kukua road is being tarred again, common maintenance NDC lacks it.

The corrupt Mahama again said they brought asphalt to Suhum inner roads. They should show us the roads they asphalted or he thinks we have short memories.

He instructed his appointee to paint our roads with NDC logo, is that the asphalt for Suhum?. Your lies this year to Suhum constituency has been exposed.

Suhum constituents have seen major developments under the NPP led Nana Addo administration than the abysmal performance during your tenure.

Suhum electorates should reject NDC because they didn’t treat us well, John Mahama told us in 2016 that he’s not a magician to create jobs for our teeming youth, today the magician NPP has created over 2million jobs which Suhum has gotten its part.

Let me use the opportunity to list some employments created under the NPP administration from 2017.

372 have been employed under NABCO, 35 in Youth in afforestation ,332 under Youth Employment agency, 110 under cocoa pollination, 16 under the security services, teachers, nurses and others.

The voter community will attest that when it comes to developmental projects in Suhum, it only happens under the NPP not NDC as corrupt Mahama said to Suhum constituents, we are calling him and his cohorts for a debate on sectorial development in Suhum, where we will expose them more.

John Mahama seems not to amaze me when he insults the people of Suhum that when you take a sheep and cloth it with NPP colours, people of Suhum will vote for it; this statement is moronic and inane which shouldn’t have come from the former President.

Thanks to Mahama that he said in this year elections lies won’t wash, the election is about truth.

When you compare NPP to NDC in governance, it’s like comparing oranges to lime. NPP has performed better than NDC in all sectors.

Suhum our lives are good and better under NPP than NDC.

Under the NDC, dumsor killed people and destroyed our jobs, the rate of unemployed graduates was very high, bad roads, poor infrastructure, high utility tariffs etc.

This is the mess NDC created and left which the NPP led by the competent Akuffo Addo has corrected and still giving hope to the people of Suhum and Ghana as a whole.

I was sad hearing from John Mahama that the covid 19 relief funds for our market women and men and business communities to boost their business in this abnormal time under the pandemic was there before they left office, oh my God, what a liar.

Will leave this for the constituents to judge it themselves.

With his words being exposed clearly shows that the NDC has nothing good for Suhum and Ghana, we must reject NDC come December 7 because their second coming will be disastrous.

NDC Chairman defects to NPP, joins First Lady’s’S Campaign Team to vote No. 1

Former NDC Chairman of the Awutu Senya West Constituency in the Central Region Hon. Simon Duodu says it will be hypocritical on his part not to support President Akufo-Addo’s bid for another term in office as several of his family members and relatives of fellow NDC members have benefitted from a number of policies implemented by the NPP administration.

Hon. Simon Duodu made the statement when he joined the First Lady, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo on her tour of parts of the Central region to canvass votes for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the up-coming December 7th elections.

“My nephews and nieces are benefitting from President Akufo-Addo’s Free SHS and the nurses are finally being employed after so many years at home; our sons and daughters who graduated from University and were sitting at home are benefiting from NABCO, there is now confidence that our NHIS cards will work when we go to the hospitals and dumsor is no more. Why should I not support President Akufo-Addo for another term” he asked.

The NDC Chairman also commended the NPP MP for Awutu Senya West and Deputy Minister for Communications, Hon. Nenyi George Kojo Andah for the many development projects he has facilitated in the constituency since becoming their representative in Parliament.

He said among other things, Hon. George Andah has facilitated the up-grading of the constituency’s health centre to a Polyclinic with a resident Doctor and Doctor’s quarters, lobbied for a significant increase of beneficiaries of the school feeding programme from six (6) to fifty-six (56) schools, refurbished and equipped a library and Music studio for the community, constructed a dormitory for the Senya SHS, paving the Bawjiase Market and constructing a Landing Wharf.

The NDC Chairman therefore called on his fellow NDC members who have benefitted from the NPP’s many social intervention policies not shy away from reality but rather rally support and vote massively for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP parliamentary candidates to consolidate their achievements.

As part of her tour, the First Lady paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Queen of Awutu at her Bawjiase palace where she interacted with other Queen mothers and widows in the community.
She also paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Budumburam, Nana Kojo Essel and his elders, visited the Budumburam and the Nyanyanor Kakraba Markets to interact with traders and later commissioned the Naase Okaikor (I) Community Library and Music Studio which was refurbished, and equipped by Hon. George Andah.

Management of the media house in a letter sighted by MyNewsGh.com states that the program is courting several legal suits for the station which has informed its decision.

It reads in part “The Management of United Television (UTV), regrettably seek to inform you of our decision to suspend the programs mentioned above, which currently airs on our network on Saturdays at 7 pm and Mondays at 9pm respectively. This unfortunate decision has been taken due to the numerous allegations and legal actions the station has been faced with and subsequent settlements it has entered into which emanated from the airing of the programs.

UTV’s willingness to allow your political party to purchase airtime and host your own programs on our channel was as a mutt of the restrictions imposed by the President due to COVID-19 pandemic, which does not allow mass gatherings and rallies. Knowing very well that as we are at the peak of an election year, the programs would offer both party’s the opportunity to reach a larger audience. Thus the aim of the programs as agreed was to allow your outfit to disseminate your campaign message and details of your manifesto to the general public in order for Ghanaians to make informed decisions during the 2020 Elections. The program took a different turn when same was aired. To protect our brand, avoid legal suits, retraction and apologies management has decided to suspend the program until further notice. We welcome any opportunity to discuss further, how our network can be made available to your outfit to educate the people of Ghana on your party’s policies and manifesto ahead of the December 7 elections which will not seek to place the station at a, legal risk and maintain our station’s ( UTV) unbiasedness in Ghanaian politics and reportage in general.

“I have been honest and truthful to Ghanaians” – President Akufo-Addo

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appealed to the Ghanaian electorate to repose their confidence in him, once again, and vote massively for him in the December 2020 elections.

Addressing the congregation of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church, at Kasoa, on Sunday, 25th October 2020, at the commencement of his 4-day tour of the Greater Accra Region, President Akufo-Addo stated that “all that I promised to do, in your own presence and in the presence of God, you can all attest to it that I have done a lot of them.”

The President continued, “You have all seen that I am an honest and truthful person. I did not come to deceive anybody in Ghana. I told Ghanaians the truth, today I am telling you the same truth, and it is upon that that I am asking you to help me so that ‘Four More for Nana’ will become a reality.”

Four more years for him, he added, “should also apply to the parliamentary candidates going to Parliament so that they will win.”

Explaining the purpose of his visit, the President noted that he has so far visited all the regions of the country, but Greater Accra, and deemed it important to begin his tour of Greater Accra with a visit to the Church he knows very well.

“Four years ago, I came here to implore Rev. Anthony Kwadwo Boakye to pray to God Almighty, on my behalf, for victory in the 2016 elections. He prayed for me, and God listened to his prayers and I emerged victorious. Afterwards, I came here to show my appreciation to him and the church for the good thing they did for me,” he said, to a rapturous response from the congregation.

The President told the gathering at the Church that “I am here today, once again, that 7th December will soon be here. The country is going to elect someone to lead the nation in the next four years. I am pleading with God to, like He helped me in 2016, to help me again in this 2020 election”.

President Akufo-Addo reiterated to the gathering that “what we have achieved, in the areas of education, health, employment, agriculture and all the others represent a solid foundation we have laid in Ghana for growth and development in the country. I am, therefore, pleading with you that we should move forward and not backwards so that in unity we can move Ghana forward.”

Weija Model SHS
President Akufo-Addo also inspected ongoing work on the construction of the Weija Model Senior High School, a school whose sod he cut in October 2019.

The Weija SHS is one of the new senior high schools, comprises the construction of seven (7) new Senior High Schools and the upgrading of two (2) existing schools into model schools, being established by the Akufo-Addo administration.

The seven new schools are located at Kwadaso, Dabaa, Awaso, Abomosu, Akrodie, Weija and Kpasenkpe. Seven (7) out of the nine (9) schools are proposed science focused schools, with the other two being the first ever Creative Arts School, Kwadaso, in Kumasi, and a Senior High Technical School at Dabaa, named after former President J. A. Kufour.

It will be recalled that contracts for the construction of these schools were awarded in October 2019, and the sites were handed over to the contractors by the consultants a month later.

The Weija Model Senior High School is fitted with the full complement of amenities such as playing fields, administrative buildings, libraries, and dormitories. Additionally, the V-Block in the school has a total of 24 classrooms, as opposed to 12 classrooms in the E-Blocks constructed by the former administration.

The Vice Presidents office has also been represented any time we called on them, the First ladys office has been our Pride and our invitations for collaboration is been more than appreciated.

The Information Ministers office has also been more than helpful in our course and we cannot forget the Danquah Institute. The General Secretary has always committed to meet up but the demanding nature of his duties and time schedules have not paved the way. Encouragement from his office however has been very soothing. The messages from the Chairmans office have also been very appreciated.

Once again we come before the youth and young at heart, especially the grassroots who have been our main major stakeholders in this success story. The Journey has so far been successful with an over 75% success rate but as determined to meeting every goal, let us all do it together as we have always done.

Vote based on Akufo-Addo’s record – First Lady

The First Lady, Mrs Rebecca Naa Okiakor Akufo-Addo, has asked the public to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo based on its development record. Mrs Akufo-Addo made the call when she paid an official visit to the Ablekuma South Constituency as part of her campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region.

According to her, the good record that has been set by the NPP, should be the reason the NPP government is retained for another four years.

She noted that the flagship Free SHS, One District, One Factory, Planting for Food and Jobs and NABCO policies of the ruling government is impacting positively on the lives of Ghanaians.

“Right now, Free SHS has helped Ghanaians and a lot of people are benefiting, the government has also established more than factories all over Ghana which are creating jobs for citizens,” she added. “NABCO has also come to address the issue of youth unemployment.”

Addressing the gathering, she said President Akufo-Addo has started a process of moving the country to another level of development which must be supported by all.

“You have all seen how through the leadership of President Akufo-Addo, the country is changing and we need to support him and the NPP government so the change can be permanent,” she urged.

With less than two months to the general elections, Mrs Akufo-Addo urged all to go out peacefully and vote on December 7 for the NPP and the Ablekuma South NPP parliamentary candidate, Bernard Brown.

She said, “We are a peaceful country and we have shown this by holding free, fair and peaceful elections over the years.”

The First Lady also pledged to liaise with the appropriate authorities to address the concerns raised by fishermen and market women in the constituency.

“As soon as I get home, I will talk to the President about the outboard motor and personally see to it that the Tuesday Market is completed on time for you to continue trading,” she assured.

Ablekuma South NPP parliamentary candidate, Bernard Brown, in a brief remark said the NPP is the best option for the continued development of Ghana and called on the constituents to retain the NPP for another four years, to secure the future of the country.

Greater Accra: Fisher folks receive Stimulus Package

In a move to deepen stakeholder engagement and enhance eradication of poverty among fisher folk, the Coastal Development Authority (CODA), on Sunday, 18th October, 2020, held a mega stakeholder forum to interact with players in the artisanal fishing industry. Specifically, participants included fishermen, fishmongers, porters and traders in the fisheries value chain. There were also representatives from the National Fish Processors and Traders Association of Ghana (NAFTA), premix fuel committees, landing beach committees among others. More than 4000 participants took part in the forum.

Stimulus Package

The purpose of the event was to engage the fisher folk on initiatives being implemented by government through the Authority to give them a boost in their trades.

Enlightening participants, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CODA, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib outlined initiatives by the Authority designed to ameliorate the standard of living of fishers and their families. Emphasising government’s commitment to help equip fishers, Lawyer Jerry Ahmed Shaib reiterated that a 40 horsepower engine with a market price of 20,000 Cedis is being offered to fishers at 10,000 Cedis while a 15 horsepower engine which is being sold in the open market for 14,500 Cedis is being offered to fishers at 5,000 Cedis. He added that fishers will also receive flexible financial support from the CODA Credit Union at negligible interest rates to empower their businesses financially.
Regarding transportation of fish from landing beaches to processing sites and markets, the CEO revealed that CODA has been directed by the President to provide tricycles to fishmongers on hire purchase to facilitate smooth and safe movement of fish produce.

Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Adjei Sowah encouraged participants to take advantage of government interventions to improve their lives and that of their families. Referring to government’s flagship Free SHS, the Mayor asked participants to desist from involving children of school-going age in fishing and rather enrol them in school for a better future. Using himself as an example, Hon. Adjei Sowah expressed hope that, “if today a grandson of a fisherman is Mayor of Accra, then President Akufo-Addo is telling you that your child can also become President of the nation”. The Mayor urged participants to eschew limiting beliefs and practices that inhibit their progress and rather focus on taking advantage of opportunities being offered by the government.

CEO of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Mr. Edwin Provencal implored the fisher folk to focus on their individual and family development by availing themselves of the economic and social opportunities available to them through the initiative of central government under President Akufo-Addo as well as other focused interventions by CODA designed to improve their lives.

Donald Trump, Yemeni President, Saudi King and Crown Prince sentenced to death

US President Donald Trump has been sentenced to death for alleged war crimes by a court in Yemen.

The US President was sentenced with nine other defendants including a Saudi King and Prince.

The case against the defendants went ahead in their absence today at Houthi-run Specialised Criminal Court in the Yemeni governorate of Saada, and resulted in the death penalty against the US leader.

The court issued death sentences against Trump, Saudi King Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, Commander of the Saudi Air Force Turki bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, and Yemeni President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi.

Yemen’s Vice President Ali Mohsin Al-Ahmar, Prime Minister Ahmed bin Dagher, Defence Minister Muhammad Al-Maqdishi, and former US Defence Secretary James Mattis were also sentenced to death.

The court also ruled that the accused should pay $10 billion to the families of those killed in the 2019 airstrike.

The charges related to an airstrike which reportedly hit a school bus, killing 51 people including 40 children.

Yemen’s internationally-recognised government has been battling the Iran-backed Houthi movement, which has seized most of the north of the country and the capital Sana’a, since 2014.

A Saudi-led military coalition joined on the side of the government the following year.

“Okyeman says ‘Nana Toaso’, you need four more to do more” – Okyenhene

The Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin, says Okyenman is solidly united behind the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his bid to win the December 2020 general elections.

At a durbar held in honour of President Akufo-Addo, on Friday, 2nd October 2020, on the second day of the President’s 3-day tour of the Eastern Region, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin noted that the President has demonstrated that he is, indeed, “a President for all Ghanaians”.

According to the Okyenhene, “all of his (President Akufo-Addo) policies have affected every part of Ghana, and have been of immense benefit to every Ghanaian. This is because he has an ancestry where greed and the love of money is eschewed. Service to the Ghanaian people is what he, President Akufo-Addo, is all about.”

The Chief continued, “The President could have easily been someone whose only motivation in office iss to amass wealth for himself. But, no, he has not done that at all. On the contrary, he has implemented policies that have benefitted us all, and improved our living standards.”

Touching on President Akufo-Addo’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin applauded the seventeen (17) addresses made by the President, which have so far outlined the measures being taken by Government to defeat the pandemic, as well as the steps to ease safely the restrictions.

“He has taught us the importance of observing and adhering to the COVID-19 protocols. We should thank God that, at this stage of our national life, he has given us a leader like him. At the height of the pandemic, he provided us with free water and free electricity. He also gave allowances to frontline health workers. This shows the large generosity of his heart,” he added.

The effective management of the economy over the last three and a half years by the Akufo-Addo Government, he stressed, has ensured that the pandemic, which has wreaked havoc on all economies around the world, did not bring untold hardships to the Ghanaian people.

On Free SHS, the Okyenhene indicated that this policy has ensured that money, or the lack of it, has not denied any Ghanaian child access to education, adding that other policies being initiated by the President such as 1-District-1-Dam, 1-Village-1-Dam, NABCO, the development of road infrastructure, and the Zipline drone delivery service are all bearing fruit.

“He was born into a good home. He begun to believe in the public values of equity, equality, freedom and the pursuit of justice. All these are virtues Nana Addo possesses. It is said that, by their fruits, you shall know them. If his policies are bearing fruit, we, in Okyeman, say ‘Nana toaso,” he added.

To residents of Okyeman, who have been beneficiaries of the President’s policies, the Okyenhene had a word of advice for them.

“If you are from Okyenman or a Ghanaian, and your child is a beneficiary of Free SHS and all the other policies of Government, and you believe there is a new wind of development blowing, and you don’t vote well on December 7…”, he retorted, eliciting a rapturous applause from the gathering.

Vote on my record
On his part, President Akufo-Addo thanked the Okyenhene and Okyeman for the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation.

He told the gathering that “my Government did not come to do lazy work. All aspects of our national life have benefitted from our policies, be they in health, roads, industrialization, or agriculture. My Government has worked for the benefit of all Ghanaians.”

“I have proven that I did not come to lie to Ghanaians, but to work for the progress and development of Ghana and for all Ghanaians. I am asking the people of Ghana to assess me on the basis of my record, and, if they were satisfied with it, they should give me an opportunity to do more for them by voting for me”.

The President told the gathering further that “I am a man of my word. I did not come to deceive to anyone, and that is what has given me the courage to seek your support in the upcoming elections. This is what will strengthen me to consolidate the gains chalked in my first term.”

Performing the sod cutting ceremony, on Wednesday, 30th September 2020, President Akufo-Addo noted that, by January 2017, out of the 947 kilometres of colonial narrow-gauge rail network bequeathed to the country by the colonialists, barely 10% was operational.

He stated that, apart from the 15 kilometre narrow gauge railway line, built between 2012 and 2017, from Sekondi to Takoradi via Kojokrom, no kilometre of railway line had been added.

“Upon my assumption of office, I was determined to change this statistic, because I believed that the presence of an efficient, effective railway system was critical to the progress, prosperity and development of our nation. This led me to the decision to establish the Ministry of Railways Development, with the dynamic Hon. Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament for Essikadu Ketan at the helm of affairs. By all accounts, this has started yielding fruits,” the President said.

He continued, “Today’s event, the cutting of the sod for the construction of the 83.5km Kumasi to Obuasi line, is a clear manifestation of the Akufo-Addo Government’s policy to grow and develop the country’s railway sector.”

It will be recalled that, earlier this year, Cabinet and Parliament both approved a €500 million agreement for the construction of a new standard gauge line from Takoradi Harbour to Kojokrom, and also from Manso to Huni Valley.

Once this is completed, one hundred and two kilometres (102km) of new standard-gauge railway lines would have been constructed, as part of the development of a new standard-gauge Western Line.

President Akufo-Addo explained that the Western Line is critical to the successful establishment of the new bauxite and aluminum industry being promoted by Government.

The Sheini and Oppon Manso iron ore deposits, which will form the basis of the imminent iron and steel industry, according to the President, require a modern railway network to transport the ore and the processed raw material.

Additionally, President Akufo-Addo told the gathering that work is also progressing steadily on the Tema to Mpakadan Line, which is the first phase of the Tema to Paga section of the Ghana-Burkina Railway Interconnectivity Project.

“This railway line has branch lines to Sheini and Oppon Manso. The exploitation of the bauxite deposits at Atiwa, as part of the nascent bauxite and aluminum industry, will also benefit from the construction of a new railway line,” he added.

With the imminent commencement of construction of the Boankra Inland Port, following the approval by Parliament of a $300 million concession facility, the President stated that, since 1995, the country has been been grappling with the development of the inland port.

The economic viability of the Boankra Inland Project, he stressed, will be greatly enhanced by the presence of a railway line, adding that “a new standard gauge railway line from Accra to Tema to Kumasi is a must, and I expect contracts to be signed for the commencement of the construction of a line from Accra to Tema towards Kumasi before the December elections.”

With the country’s railway network having never gone beyond Kumasi, the President announced that a feasibility study and the preliminary design of a new standard gauge line, from Eduabin to Paga through Bechem, Sunyani, Techiman and Tamale, has been completed.

“Next week, final stakeholder holder consultations will commence, after which the processes for land acquisition will begin. Let me take the opportunity to appeal to the chiefs, who are the custodians of our land, to give their full support to this project. The economic value of all lands, where there is development of the railway line, will be greatly enhanced,” he added.

In the first four years of his administration, President Akufo-Addo noted that more construction activity in the railway sector has gone on than in any period of the country’s history since independence.

“Over the last three years and ten months we have laid a solid foundation, which will receive an even greater impetus when Nana and the NPP get four more years to do more for you. My commitment to the development of a new modern standard railway network is unwavering,” he assured.

“Asanteman will remember your good works on 7th December” – Otumfuo to Prez Akufo-Addo

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has assured the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, that, going into the 7th December presidential and parliamentary elections, his record in office “will speak for him”.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II made this known on Monday, 28th September 2020, when President Akufo-Addo paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace, at the commencement of a 3-day working visit of the Ashanti Region.

Addressing a durbar held in honour of the President, the Asantehene thanked the President for his continuous visit to Manhyia, both as leader of the opposition before the 2016 elections and as President of the Republic.

To this end, he stated that “Your good works in office will speak for you going forward into the election. We, in Asanteman, remember, we do not forget. Asanteman will, therefore, remember your good works on election day. All I can offer you is prayers and blessings.”

Even though Chiefs and traditional rulers are not to engage in partisan politics vote, the Asante noted that “we vote. We will vote based on the good works of the candidate.”

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, thus, urged President Akufo-Addo to direct his communicators and information dissemination machinery to “tell Ghanaians exactly what his Government has done and what is being done” in their respective communities, in the run-up to the December elections.

1,824 projects in Asanteman
On his part, President Akufo-Addo thanked the Asantehene and Asanteman for the warm accorded him and his delegation on their arrival at Manhyia.

He explained that the purpose of his visit is officially to introduce himself, once again, to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate ahead of the December elections, and to seek his blessings for the contest.

The President also used the opportunity to introduce all of the party’s forty-seven (47) parliamentary candidates from the Ashanti Region, and appealed for the support of the Asantehene and Asanteman so the party can annex the three remaining constituencies, Asawase, Ejura Sekyedumase, and Sekyere Afram Plains, which eluded the party in the December 2016 polls.

Touching on his record in office, President Akufo-Addo told the Asantehene that development, under his tenure of office, has been distributed equitably to all parts of the country.

In the Ashanti Region, for example, the President indicated that a total of 1,824 projects are being undertaken, out of which 774 have been completed and 1,050 are still ongoing.

He told the Asantehene that there are 604 projects in the education sector, 92 in health, 151 road projects, 606 in the water and sanitation sector, 1 in aviation and 1 in the ports sector.

The Boankra inland Port Project, which has been on the drawing board for several decades, according to President Akufo-Addo, is set to receive parliamentary approval in November, with the $330 million funding needed for its construction already secured by Government.

Ghanaians are not ready to re-elect a leader with credibility Bankruptcy – Edmund Kyei to Mahama

The Ghanaian electorate of today are more enlightened pertaining to governance and they are well abreast with issues of the economy, so it is difficult to swindle them.

Recently ex President Mahama has been making vain promises to the Ghanaian electorate in order to win their votes, meanwhile he was against the same policies when he was the head of state and steering the affairs of this nation.

During Mahama’s tenure of office he said, and I quote ” I am not a magician to employ you” this is what he told unemployed graduates and now he is saying he will create 1 million jobs if he is elected. He also said Free SHS will collapse Ghana’s education system but he is now claiming he brought Free SHS. He further stated he will not restore teacher trainees allowance even if it cost him his re-election but he is now saying he will maintain trainee teachers and nurses allowance. Mr Mahama led campaign to reject the introduction of Ghana card but he later went to register for the card including his wife.

During his tenure he increased electricity tariff and told Ghanaians if we want light we should pay more, he is also saying he will legalise okada but during his tenure of office most okada riders were arrested and they were told it is illegal to operate okada, because he wants votes he is trying to say he is holier than the Pope.

As ex President Mahama said “Ghanaians have short memory” but I am reminding him what he did when he was steering the affairs of the nation, the biggest scam of the decade was Mahama’s $10 billion Hope City project.

With this track record, I think he is credibility bankrupt and needs to stand aside and learn from His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-addo who is shaping the tattered economy you left.

Election 2020: Dr Bawumia electrifies Bole

Home towns of Presidential candidates are normally ‘no go zones’ for their main opponents but Vice President Bawumia on Monday defied that widely-held view in Bole, the hometown of NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.

On the 4th day of his tour of the northern regions of the country, Dr. Bawumia stormed Bole to round off his visits to the newly created Savannah Region.

What was meant to be a private visit to the Bole Naa turned out to be a stunning experience as the home of Mahama offered Dr. Bawumia an unimaginable tumultuous welcome.

Scores of youth met the Vice President at the entrace of Bole in the outskirts and led him into the town and to his destination.

As his entourage slowly headed to the Bole Naa’s Palace, scores of people, both young and old poured out in their numbers and followed him to the Palace.

By the time Dr. Bawumia was through with his meeting with the Bole Naa, people had massed up in front of the Palace chanting songs in support of President Akuffo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia.

As Bawumia stepped out of the Palace, the crowd demanded he says something and he obliged.

“Wow! This is Bole! This is Bole! This is Bole!”, a stunned Dr. Bawumia said.

He continued: “From what i seee tonight, in shaa Allah David Sey Dema will be the next member of Parliament for Bole Constituency.”

“We are so happy for this welcome. This is a massive welcome,” he added.

Dr. Bawumia said the 2020 elections is about records and sustaining the massive and inclusive development, as well as the social interventions President Akufo-Addo has initiated in his first.

He said unlike former President Mahama, who disappointed the north despite pumping $100 million dollars into SADA, President Akufo-Addo has kept faith with the north with several development initiatives.

Dr. Bawumia said, even Bole Constituency, the home of former President Maham has not been left out, as it has benefited from 10 dams from the One Village One Dam, among other national interventions.

As Dr. Bawumia listed President Akufo-Addo’s numerous achievements one after the other, the ecstatic crowd responded wildly to it.

He urged them to make history by voting massively for President Akufo-Addo and electing the NPP Parliamentary candidate to Parliament.

President Akufo-Addo Elected ECOWAS Chairman

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been elected Chairman of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), at the 57th ECOWAS Summit held in Niamey, Niger, on Monday, 7th September 2020.

The President, who was elected unanimously by his peers, takes over the mantle of leadership from the President of Niger, His Excellency Mahamadou Issoufou, for a period of one year.

Following in the footsteps of his predecessors, their Excellencies Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, and John Dramani Mahama, who have enjoyed, in times past, a similar privilege, President Akufo-Addo thanked the Assembly for the honour, and assured that he will do his utmost not to let the side down, and discharge his duties to the best of his abilities.

“Excellencies, I am fully aware of the challenges which confront West Africa. Past leaders of ECOWAS have demonstrated their collective will and determination to drive the agenda of regional integration, opening up our economic frontiers, encouraging healthy competition amongst Member States, and ensuring that we adhere to our formative principles,” he said.

The President continued, “As much as considerable progress has been made since the establishment of ECOWAS, some forty-five (45) years ago, we are all agreed that there is much more to be done to consolidate the socio-economic and political gains made over the years.”

In his remarks, President Akufo-Addo noted that five immediate challenges face the regional organization of ECOWAS, for which Member States must address.

These, he said, are the continuing activities of terrorists in the Region concentrated, for the time being, in the Sahelian area, involving Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso and the northern parts of Nigeria; the the COVID-19 pandemic, which has attacked the populations and economies of each Member States; the imminent coming into force of the African Continental Free Trade Area on 1st January 2021; the 2020 decision on monetary union within the ECOWAS space; and the consolidation of democratic governance in the turbulent conditions of the Community.

“The challenges, in these critical regional spheres, such as security, economy, trade, currency and health, must be addressed in a spirit of genuine co-operation and solidarity, if we are to succeed in overcoming them, which we can. In so doing, we must protect, at all costs, our freedom and independence of action, so that the development of our Community responds to the needs and aspirations of our peoples, and not to the goals of external agencies and forces. I am confident that, by the grace of God, I can count on the unstinting support of each one of Your Excellencies in navigating the immediate future of our Community,” he added.

The President urged his fellow Heads of State to recognise that the way forward is to implement regional decisions, such as the ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme, recognising that, ultimately, the benefits are in everyone’s interest.

“Those of us who believe strongly in integration can do no better than to give our full support to regional decisions. Through this, we will build institutional confidence and integrity in the structural organs of ECOWAS,” he said.

To this end, he admonished Members of the ECOWAS Community to “collaborate to ensure that we adhere to and maintain common values of governance, i.e. the principles of democratic accountability, respect for individual liberties and human rights, and the rule of law. Such commonality will facilitate immeasurably the process of bonding amongst the peoples of our Community.”

In conclusion, he urged all in ECOWAS to “give enthusiastic support to Community decisions, and build rapidly our Community. Our peoples deserve no less, and the objectives of peace, progress and prosperity will, thus, be within our reach, realising the historic purposes of ECOWAS.”

Essikado-Ketan NDC advises NPP PC to call constituency executives to order

The Communication Secretariat of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency of the Western Region has advised the Incumbent Member of Parliament for the New Patriotic Party ‘NPP’, Hon. Joe Ghartey to call his constituency executives to order over vile propoganda with full of lies and insults aimed at attacking and tarnishing the high earned reputation of NDC parliamentary candidate, Prof. Grace Dr. Ayensu-Danquah.

According to the Essikado-Ketan NDC Communication Officer, Taylor Frederick, Hon. Joe Ghartey who has been the Member of Parliament for the constituency for 16 years and have nothing relevant to showcase as a developmental projects being qualitative or quantitative.

Moreover the mediocre and shambolic Performance by the Essikado-Ketan NPP parliamentary candidate for the past sixteen years has created strong dislike and aversion among the larger constituents of Essikado-Ketan constituency.

Mr. Taylor Frederick continued that the NPP executives and their hired commentators have resorted to unnecessary politicking by bad-mouth and falsifying things about Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah when they have the opportunity to speak on the airwaves at any radio stations in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

This was revealed when Vision1 FM Western Regional Correspondent Benjamin Bray cited a press statement signed by Taylor Frederick as the communication officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.

In the press statement, the communication secretariat of Essikado-Ketan “NDC” debunked recently allegations when their first female parliamentary candidate was tagged with donating damage medical equipments to Kansaworado Chps Compound Constituency

Meanwhile the Medical practioner is said to be a professor of medicine at the University of Utah in the United State of America and at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana.

Again she is the Chief Executive Officer of Healing Hands Organization with track records, both professional and academia field.

“the Executives of the New Patriotic Party ‘NPP’ have notice the treat that the medical officer who double as the first female Parliamentary Candidate in the constituency poses to their failed Member of Parliament for the Constituency hence the unnecessary and unwarranted attacks on National Democratic Congress Parliamentary Candidate”, NDC Communication Secretariat emphasize in the press statement.

Information gathered indicate that there isn’t any CHPs compound at Kansaworado at currently. Meanwhile the Kansaworado Queenmother and her entourage deeply thought of the health status of the commuters and therefore made provision of some apartment within the palace to be established as CHPs Compound where the Essikado-Ketan NDC parliamentary Candidate, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah came in with medical equipments to help the community to set up the mini health facility.

“We would like to state ccategorically that, the statement is purportedly lies, the items are in good conditions and the Queenmother who received the equipments I behalf of the community has come out of debunked the falsehood statement”, Taylor Frederick added.

The Essikado-Ketan National Democratic Congress communication Secretariat has therefore debunked towards Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah.
Meanwhile they accepted the fact that the constituency needs development not attacks and intimidation whereas they wish that the vile outmoded means of communication will be abandoned and push for a debate between their parliamentary candidate, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah and the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon. Joe Ghartey to enable voters the opportunity to make an informed choice.

The western regional correspondent for Vision1 FM, Benjamin Bray’s effort in reaching the New Patriotic Party ‘NPP’ at the Essikado-Ketan Constituency to respond to these allegations levelled against them by the opposition National Democratic Congress has proved futile.

The Most Wicked And Lazy People On Earth Are Residents Of Komenda – Kennedy Agyapong

Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has said that the residents of Komenda are naturally lazy and wicked and will do anything to sabotage any developmental projects.

According to him, he had a bitter experience with the residents of Komenda and realized that the Komenda Sugar factory was going to fail. Speaking on KFM TV disclosed how he and some partners decided to revive the Komenda Sugar factory some years ago.

He said that his partners and himself acquired 11,000 hectares of land to plant sugarcane which will be used to feed the factory in order to ensure consistent production. However, some residents sent the farm ablaze after receiving their compensation for no reason.

“I’m not afraid of them. The people of Komenda are naturally born bad. These people are wicked and also lazy at the same time. You burnt my farm but now who is suffering? You are suffering and I’m here doing very well. I knew the Komenda Sugar factory will fail but I didn’t want to be a prophet of doom and even if I had said anything about it, they would have said because it’s another political party so I had to be quiet about it.”

Western Regional Minister and MP for Tarkwa Nsuaem accused for supporting “illegal” chief of Dompim-Pepesa to boycott court order

Western Regional Minister Kobby Okyere Darko, the Member of Parliament for the Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency George Mireku Duker and the Municipal Chief Executive of the Constituency Benjamin Kessie have been accused by the Dompem Traditional Council for conniving with the illegal Chief, Nana Ohyeawora Bianyowah to boycott the rulings of the court to overthrow him.

Hon George Mireku Duker, Tarkwa Nsuaem MP

According to the Dompem Pepesa Traditional Council, an order was granted to the councils by the Court of Jurisdiction at Sekondi empowering the police to evict the notorious self-styled chief (Ohyeawora Bianyowah). When the police brought the eviction notice, he retaliated with gun shots and set the palace ablaze, and jumped through the window to escape. The Hon MP George Mireku Duker and The Hon MCE Bejamin Kessie were seen in a video arguing strongly and obstructing the police from performing their duty.

Hon Kobby Okyere Darko, Westeen Regional Minister

The Council has been through all hooliganism, vandalization and brutalities meted out by the illegal chief (Kwaapaa Ohyeawora Bianyowah) and his followers but the legal Chief of Dompem Pepesa Traditional area, Nana Nyonwa Panyin IV and the Pepesaman have been patient all this while and have come to appoint that a competent court of jurisdiction has given an order that the purported chief who styles himself as Ohyeawora Bianyowah who was enstooled by Hon. George Mireku Duker be moved from the Palace. The MP Hon George Mireku Duker, the MCE Hon. Benjamin Kessie teamed up against this court order, saying their government is in power and that they are in-charge of security in the area and for that matter will not rest, even though there is an order from the court of jurisdiction to evict the purported chief, they will not allow him to move out of the palace and will do everything in their power to prevent his removal.

Hon MCE Bejamin Kessie

On Thursday 27th August, 2020 the MCE Benjamin Kessie sent a troupe of military men to the town under the pretense that they were in to keep peace. While the MCE was talking on the local FM preaching peace, his boys took advantage of the presence of the Military and entered into residents premises to loot and vandalize their houses and stores. The Divisional Police Commander and the Regional Police commander had no knowledge of this military presence, the police had already been to the town and had kept peace and tranquility until that evening when they came.
