On July 14th, All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) donates medical supplies and office equipment to the Organization of African Trade Union Unity (OATUU). The donations, including 20,000 disposable nose masks, 1,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and office equipment like computers and printers, were handed over from Mr. Zhu Jing, Charge D’affaires of Chinese Embassy in Ghana to Mr. Mezhoud Arezki, General Secretary of OATUU.

In his speech, Mr. Zhu emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic is a major challenge to humankind, and is the most serious global public health emergency since the end of World War II.

In the face of COVID-19, China and Africa have offered mutual support and fought shoulder to shoulder with each other, which enhanced solidarity and strengthened friendship and mutual trust.
Mr. Zhu said that, over the years, the OATUU has forged and maintained profound friendship and good cooperative relations with China. The Chinese side values this traditional friendship and firmly support the anti-pandemic efforts of OATUU and African workers. We are ready to work with the OATUU to enhance our cooperation and friendship and build a China-Africa community of health for all.

Mr. Mezhoud Arezki, General Secretary of OATUU, highly commended China’s timely and generous assistance for Africa’s fight against COVID-19. He said, Africa is at a difficult time in the fight against the COVID-19. China has made key contributions to protecting the rights of African workers by supporting the OATUU during this critical moment.

On behalf of the OATUU and the trade unions in all African countries, I’d like to express heartfelt thanks to the valuable support and friendly donations from the ACFTU and the great assistance from the Chinese Embassy.
